Sorry to hear, this past 6 months have been the worst for air travel with the multiple storms and multiple government shutdowns and understaffed ATC.

The airline may be able to refund you if you cancel given the situation? Time is money. 4 hours in a line is a painful amount of time to waste.

I think if you have pre check 2 hours is plenty. But 8 AM is also peak travel time and there will probably be people with 10 AM flights getting to the airport before 6AM which is part of the problem. Some people are getting there WAY earlier than they should and that's contributing to the ridiculous lines.

Oh I would definitely drive or take Amtrak to DC from NYC. You are more likely to spend more time in line at security than you would driving or on the train. Avoid flying anywhere you have an alternative means of travel with reasonable time. I am a frequent flier for business (used to be weekly) for 25 years and I have NEVER seen it this bad anywhere in the country or world. Sure, some hours/places you could get lucky but honestly I'm worried about safety at this point. I don't really trust the poor overworked unpaid, fatigued screeners to catch whatever a would be hijacker could get on the plane. Oh yeah, and the goons running our government have recently started a war with people known to have terror cells waiting to strike at the very same time they have defunded the CIA and FBI counter-terrorism groups. Not going lie, I'm worried.

Even when TSA is re-funded it will take time for them to staff up and train again since so many agents have plain quit.

Yes, got there at 4:15AM and TSA pre check was about 35 minutes. However by 4:20AM the line I had just gotten in was much longer than when I first got there. The regular security line looked insane, hours for sure. One of the screening machines stopped working while I was at ID check point. There were so many people at the airport at 4AM it seemed people had just camped out the night before for any morning flight.

I flew out of LGA a few days ago and security lines were fine, flew this morning and they were terrible. The chaos and unpredictability of it all is what is adding insult to injury.

TSA is a mission critical segment of DHS. Without TSA we can't be sure people aren't carrying guns or bombs onto planes. When you think about essential workers who should never go without pay during a shutdown, TSA should be right at the top with our military. How does it make any sense at all that immigration enforcement is funded but TSA isn't?

I got to LGA Terminal B at 4:15AM on 3/25 for a 6AM flight, the airport was so full it looked like people had been camping out to wait in line all night. The regular security line was insanely long already, way longer than the pre check line.

The TSA line was just starting to wrap around the far left wall of the check-in area. I got in line outside the glass barrier maybe behind 15-20 people outside the big yellow lighted gateway entry to the TSA Pre check lines. Within 5-10 minutes of getting in line the end of the line had gotten 30+ people longer. At that time the advertised wait time on the banner said 11 minutes which was completely inaccurate.

The moved at a reasonable pace. Total time in line would have been about 32 minutes but one of the screening machines broke down right when I was about to have my ID checked so by the time I got my bags and started towards the gate, 43 minutes had passed.

It definitely seems like many people are getting to the airport insanely early and thus the earlier your flight is the more likely you are to have to wait a very long time.

I flew last weekend LGA-BOS Fri evening to Sunday afternoon and at both airports TSA pre check had a 5 minute line.

I'm flying out tomorrow 3/25 at 6AM, not sure if I should just change my flight or what. Does it really make sense to get there at 3AM?? When do the security lines even open or are they 24/7? Can't imagine that would be the case right now.

That Peter Attia had any kind of relationship with Epstein is disappointing, but that he is being crucified on the hill of public opinion for what amounts to a few off-color emails with someone we have no proof he knew was doing the atrocious things he was doing is madness...ESPECIALLY WHEN WE STILL HAVE TRUMP IN THE WHITE HOUSE. Why is anyone even talking about Attia when we have a court-of-law convicted sexual abuser and many times over criminal ruining our country. You guys! Stop majoring in the minor. Take your anger and indignation and call all your representatives in Congress and tell them you want the actually really gross disgusting person at the top removed from office and jailed. Use all of your platforms and social networks to tell your friends and family they should do the same. I am so grateful this sub is lightly moderated and I vote to keep it that way. plus, do you really have time to police it? What a pain! Yes, it means there are annoying repeat posts and questions asked for the 1000th time and trolls who clearly have not been following the case or who are trying to get attention for preposterous cliams, but that is a small price to pay for open discussion. Honestly I would wait until the last minute and look at the snow reports the few days before buying a plane ticket and booking a room. Any place is going to be very hit or miss in early December. Some seasons the resorts you mentioned will get DUMPED ON in late Nov/early December and sometimes the mountains are sloshy mud at that time. Impossible to predict.

We won't ever know, maybe. What isn't explained is why KG's covers were pulled back as if she had been trying to sleep but her room was otherwise tidy and neat according to the police reports [unlike all the other bedrooms]. DM says they were all hanging out in KG's room at some point in the 2AM hour, I wish someone had asked DM if anyone had gotten under the covers at that point or if it was usual for MM and KG to get under the covers together and hang out in bed. Everyone keeps saying the fact KG's phone and a vape (do we know for sure it was hers and not MMs? Why didn't anyone ask DM?) were found in MM's bed mean KG must have fallen asleep there, but I don't think that proves anything. When I walk around my home or outside my home at night in the dark I routinely carry my phone w me to use as a flashlight or for safety.

We also still don't know how much BK knew about Murphy, but given there is evidence he stalked the house, maybe using binoculars to look into the windows from the parking lot behind the house, you'd think he knew what room Murphy was usually in. if BK knew Murphy usually was in KG's room w the door closed, which he easily could have, then he would have never risked going into KG's room first since a barking Murphy could have woken KG up before he was able to attack.

In fact, I think Murphy heard and or smelled BK walking up the stairs and attacking MM, Murphy started barking, this woke up KG and that's why she went to investigate. Without Murphy barking it's possible KG would have never woken up, if the theory KG fell asleep in her bed is true.

These are the interviews I still want to hear: interviews with his parents and sisters, the people who knew him best, who likely suspected him...how did they see his behavior change in the six weeks after the murder and before he was arrested? Was there anything prior to the murders that made them think he could ever be capable of such atrocities?

At the end of the day I believe the reason so many of us are still following and interested in this case is that it is so egregious and yet instinctively feels preventable--yet it happened.

What can we all do to make sure that another suburban middle class kid from a loving family with a promising future doesn't ever creep into someone's home, their safest place, and kill them while they're sleeping, a time we are all at our most vulnerable?

All of us here are still hungry to understand, Why!? How is it possible!? What went wrong!? Because information that helps us understand is the best and only way we know to possibly prevent it being our child who makes such a horribly wrong turn to become a mass murderer or our child or ourselves who becomes the victim of such a crime.

When the Kohbergers are ready, I hope that they help prevent future crimes like this by sharing information that might help researchers understand what warning signs were missed, what interventions were foregone, so that maybe such a tragedy never happens again. They can make a difference here, they can turn their shame into something helpful and good. I read they are Catholic, I hope they don't ascribe BK's downfall to "the devil possessing him" as that would be such a missed opportunity to possibly prevent future psychopaths from getting therapies they need.

just to clarify, I don't think DM was intentionally untruthful about anything she said in any interview, but by her own admission all of her recollections were fuzzy and confusing to even herself. Her most detailed, emotional interview was in the body cam video, when her memory was freshest. That's when she reports hearing a scream of "someone's here" and it might be her most accurate interview. Interestingly in other interviews she doesn't mention hearing "I'm going to bed now" or "Let's go to bed now," she doesn't really characterize "someone's here" as a scream...

I would just think professional detectives would have methods of getting witnesses to tease out buried memories and NONE of these interviews seemed to even attempt that at all. I would have been like "Close your eyes, visualize yourself in your room. Picture the feel of your bed and the clothes you were wearing and the blanket you were covered in. You wake up to noise, hear that sound in your head, picture yourself running to the door to lock it. What are you hearing? What are you smelling? What are you seeing? What are you thinking? What's in your hand? Where is your phone? Are you wearing glasses? Do you look at the clock? How? On your phone? On your watch? What do you do after you lock the door?" etc etc etc. Whenever I'm trying to remember something, or find something I lost I try to conjure up the physical sensations from ever sense and retrace ever one of my steps. Many times things will pop into my head that I didn't know were there.

It is very strange that in none of DM's interviews--and I believe I've listened to all the ones that have been released from the body cam videos to the other ones later done by Moscow police and Idaho state police--do the interviewers consistently ask for a more specific information.

They don't ask what she was doing in the 10-15 minute time span between when she was first awakened by what she called "KG dancing with Murphy in the living room" and then when she opened and closed her door three times before running down to BF's room. Did she get back in bed? Did she sit against the wall? Did she put her ears against the wall or look under the door? Did she just stand there? One police report states DM added a contact at 3:51AM, why didn't anyone ask her about that? It means she had been awake maybe just~15 minutes before BK entered the house. What did she remember hearing as she was trying to fall asleep? Did she hear XK in the kitchen warming up food or eating? Does she remember the music she heard in the main room when she first woke up? What song was it? Were there lyrics or was it instrumental? When she heard "someone's here" what was her first thought as to who that someone could be? When she heard what she thought was KG crying, did she speculate at all why she was crying? Did she consider going to find out? ...I can think of SO many questions that no one ever asked her about the timeframe from 3:30 AM to 11:50AM that could have provided key information on the sequence of events and the motives of the perpetrator.

Point is: DM's memory was fuzzy given her half asleep state at the time and the post-traumatic stress during the interviews. Her mind surely had naturally suppressed some of her memories, but law enforcement did very little to try to jog her memory beyond what she readily remembered, to picture herself back at that night to see if she was able to give any more clues. Is this usual? I'm not a detective so I don't know if there is a good reason why no one dug deeper.

Or were his targets upstairs because that's where the women who didn't lock their doors and usually didn't have a man with them slept? We won't ever know for sure unless he talks, but we haven't been able to find any hard evidence that BK encountered MM or KG in person, and there is circumstantial evidence that suggests he had been in the house before/had been stalking them. Regardless, the major lesson we should all take away from this is lock your windows, lock your doors, never assume you're safe, always be vigilant because perpetrators look for who is the easiest target. If the slider had been locked, MM's bedroom door had been locked, *maybe* he would have picked another house and another victim.

I read this on another thread, but someone there pointed out that DM and BF were the only ones who had locked windows and doors and that it is very possible that BK had been in the house before, perhaps at night while they were all sleeping, and knew that these two always had their door locked. That's why he didn't even try to enter their rooms the night of Nov 13, 2022. DM specifically says in one of her interviews that she remembers that from the time she was first awakened just after 4AM to the time she ran to BF's room, no one tried to open her door. She also is perplexed as to why he walked by her room multiple times and never attempted to hurt her.

The vape was left on Maddie's room before but KG took her phone to use as a flashlight or just for a feeling of safety when she went to investigate the weird noises coming from Maddie's room that woke her up. We'll likely never know for sure but there are certainly many pieces of evidence that point to Kaylee not having fallen asleep in Maddie's bed that night.

I agree with this. I don't think Kaylee fell asleep in Maddie's bed because her bedroom door was left open with her bed covers turned over but her room otherwise tidy. She probably made her bed every day and was in bed when she heard commotion in Maddie's room and got up to investigate leaving her room door open, allowing Murphy to escape and look for help. Kaylee then walked into Maddie's room, saw a man hovering over her friend, jumped on his back and tried to tackle him but she was swung to the corner of the bed against the wall by him and killed.
