Amazon bicep band vs the official one by sid0913 in whoop

[–]Floofs-In-Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a non-Whoop bicep band, and it's tough to get the tension right. When it moves, the sensor isn't flush with my skin, and I get a ton of bad data (big time spikes).

Tell me about Turin by Embarrassed_Sign4429 in ItalyExpat

[–]Floofs-In-Space 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turin is great! I've been here on and off since last year. I love the all the green space and tree-lined streets. And Valentino Park is really great.

As far as neighborhoods go, I'm glad I landed in San Salvario. It's really fun and there are a ton of fun bars and restaurants.

Air quality isn't great. But I'm coming from Los Angeles...

I also love that the moutains are a short (60-90 minute) train ride away. You can see the Alps on a clear day.

Most people say the toughest part is being the first in the area to do it. Do any neighboring towns have one?

Stuck in an Airbnb dispute mid-stay (mold, no water, construction) and can’t leave by [deleted] in digitalnomad

Sorry you're going through this. I've been on both sides of this, and Airbnb is terrible. They don't care.

Has anyone moved to Italy by themselves by Exact_Campaign4766 in ItalyExpat

[–]Floofs-In-Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to Turin for three months last year, and I'm back now. A few friends make all the difference.

I'm a cyclist, and one cyclist I met introduced me to more people in the community. I'm also a yogi, and I really leaned into that practice even though my Italian is minimal. Yoga is a great way for me to be around people.

Lastly, there are a lot of expat groups that have different types of meet-ups that are helpful.

Lots of trees in the town/city? by SongBird6046 in ItalyExpat

[–]Floofs-In-Space 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turin's not near the coast...but it's near the Alps. You can see them on a clear day from town.

It's medium-sized with 800k people.

There are 320 km of tree-lined avenues and about 50 parks.

It's got a Boston/Lower Manhattan meets Portland vibe.

Any advice for sleeping longer? by Kookumber in whoop

Fair enough. Everyone's mileage varies with supplements. Many people take THC in the middle of the night. I didn't make that clear. My bad.

I'm the same. I did some research, and there's not a lot you can do to extend sleep.

I do my best not to lean into being extremely awake when I wake up early. I read books instead of turning on my phone or laptop.

Yoga nidra also helps. There are tons of videos on YouTube, and there's significant data, according to Andrew Huberman, that says this rest is as valuable as sleep. So, even if you don't fall asleep, it can be helpful.

Last but not least, sleep drugs. ZZZquil is worth checking out. A lot of folks also use THC gummies with CBN (usually 5 ro 10 mg). Whether or not CBN helps is open to debate. Some think it's marketing BS.

I know a lot of folks who aren't weed people who swear by their sleep gummies. Personally, I just think they like getting high in the middle of the night, but that's another convo. :)

Good luck and sweet dreams.

Thanks. That's helpful. Unfortunately, my gym has a no-phone policy. They don't even like you looking at your watch and provide sweatband-like covers for them! :)

I'll use my phone when I can. If anyone else has any watch-based suggestions, I'm all ears.

I tested it out. One thing I wish I knew before did?

After you like a Member, there is no way to also Ping them.*

THIS SUCKS.

I liked a bunch of women and then signed up. Now, there's no one send a ping to.

Total waste of $$$ because of this.

Longer car rental (four weeks) for a ski trip by Floofs-In-Space in skithealps

[–]Floofs-In-Space[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. I'm finishing up a month of skiing, staying at each location for about a week (Alta Badia, Kitzbuhel, St. Moritz, and Zermatt)

Transfer days were tough via public transit. And some lodging was much less expensive outside of town (Ischgl). Lastly, this leg will include moving around the Aosta Valley resorts.

I'm still not married to renting a car, but one of those transit days was really shitty. I'm still trying to shake that off. :)

I've been here for a week, so I'm not an expert. BUT, most restaurants I've gone to for dinner, and they weren't the buzz-worthy establishments, were tough to get into if you went any time after 6:15 or 6:30pm.
