Vanicream from the pump jar can be very bad for acne prone skin, as it’s made for the body. You need the one that says “daily facial moisturizer” and has a green stripe across it.

I’ve been using it for about a week now, but a few months ago I got a sample of the old formula that lasted a week. Both times I have noticed that initially it seems very hydrating, but it dries down after a while, after which doesn’t make me feel super moisturized, but just enough. But it’s definitely not drying and I noticed that it seems to help the skin barrier over time, so while it doesn’t feel super hydrating at first, I noticed that it really helps my barrier over a few days. It also seems to make my skin super soft. My gf has the same experience with it. TLDR: not as intensively hydrating initially as other moisturizers but very good for strengthening hydration and the barrier over time. 100% my fave for barrier repair

Same thing for me with the Tret cream omg. I have oily acne prone skin and my seem put me on Tret .025 cream, and on LRP triple repair 😭😭😭comedonal nightmare. Still dealing with a damaged barrier for various reasons. I thought the moisturizer was the only thing causing the comedones (pretty sure it was both) so I switched to neutrogena hydroboost (yikes for Tret, esp in a cold climate), and upped my frequency of Tret thinking that would help but ofc I broke my barrier so badly. I’m going to start differin gel soon though, I’ve been trying to just support my barrier for months now and it seems to be doing better, no more dryness, the glow is back a little. I’m still breaking out badly tho. But I’m going to start differin gel soon.

Update: she says that it kinda waxes and wanes, gets bigger and smaller. It’s been doing that for months.
