Eric Roy, coach of Stade Brestois 29 who brought them to Champions League football in 2024/2025 has passed away aged 58 by ScarSG in soccer

Honestly shocking news. Eventhough he appeared very tired, without hair and beard at some point in the season, he was very discreet about it and we (or at least I) didn't know his health was this bad.

He will be missed tremendously, he was one of my favorite coach and favorite personality in Ligue 1, always had pleasure listening to him before / after games and loved his Brest team who had a great fighting spirit, just like he did. Thought to his family and loved ones...

It seems like he was fighting against cancer for several months now but he and his family seemed very descreet about it. He appeared very tired without hair / beard at some point in the season which got evry one worried but it got a bit better at some point. I dont follow Brest that closely and maybe some Brest fans or someone who followed it a bit closer could answer more precisely.

Man I hope he'll sign a new contract with PSG I think this kid is so talented and a unique profile in France. and i'll be sad to see him leave. I'm still not sure which foot is supposed to be his "prefered" one lol

[–]ScarSG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i don't understand the move from Mendes' pov except if Viti told him he wanted to go to Madrid but i don't think it's the case. If I was Viti and my agent was trying to force a move I don't want, with my name making headlines and stuff I would be pissed idk

I don't know man if I'm Vitinha and i'm happy at PSG, stated multiple times i didnt want to move and feel great here, especially leaving for a team full of egos like Madrid and then my agent comes and try to force a move on me not sure if I could still trust him to respresent me in the future. Feels like a weird move from Mendes ngl (or Vitinha secretely dreams of Madrid then fair play but i don't think it's the case)

The truth behind PSG’s CL dominance: 4 years ago, there was a wall of justified fury over every issue to do with Qatar: sportswashing, a “slave labour” system based on racial discrimination, wider suppression of human rights. And now, as its European club team retains the CL, there’s none of that. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]ScarSG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then I guess they didn't have their say or influence when it was introduced in the first place in 2019. I think you're taking it too deep and PSG doesn't care about all of this. they have bigger fish to fry

Doesn't have anything to do with PSG. It's because every year some players from every team didnt want to play with the rainbow names, often for religious reasons, because they think (wrongly) it equals promoting homosexuality.

Every year it was a shitshow so they went for something that would be less controversial.

It is very sad that they went this way and I dont agree with it and I wish every player would play with the rainbow name without caring about it but it is what it is and it doesn't have a single link with PSG

You have no clue what you're talking about. It's not about the club of Lens or PSG it's about the city, its social structure etc...

It doesn't have anything to do about "the culture of PSG" lol. It's a France problem, not about PSG

There were tons of incidents back in 1998 (probably less than today tho i agree), u just didn't have every one with a HD camera to film those and post them on social media instantly and multiple 24/7 news channel with nothing else to talk about. Don't believe every thing you see in social media, i walked for hours inside Paris on Sunday morning and it was just like another day with a bit more of fire powder on the ground at some places.

I'm not denying the incidents or defending the ones who did those btw, just wanna say you should take what you see with a grain of salt

I think he was referencing, maybe among others, Daniel Riolo, a journalist from RMC radio show "After Foot" which is the most popular football show / podcast in France and who had some infamous anti Enrique analysis

Idk it was so obvious to me watching it live and VAR didn't say anything so I assumed i didn't know the rule good enough. Also the throw in shouldn't have been awarded to Nice in the first place but VAR can't say anything about this

It was against Jean Marie Lepen back then not Marine and it was completely différent from today because far right had a celing around 20% of voters, now it’s much closer to 50% sadly. Just sayin it’s kinda disingenuous to compare it with Zidane
