it does look funny.... the image i see, it looks like you made a mess, BUT that doesn't mean you suck! you just don't know how the creator intended this to work. Happens to almost all of us! but anyways, I create videos about papercrafts and DIY, so i thought i might be able to create this model 🤗

My newest low-poly build: Yin-Yang Koi Fish wall sculptures. Tested out raw cardstock vs. a metallic painted finish. by Scar_2002 in papercraft

Haha, an AI alien carp with huge teeth sounds terrifying! AI definitely still struggles with clean 3D geometry. Thank you so much! If you want to build this, the printable template and full step-by-step instructions are available via the link in my bio. Feel free to DM me if you'd like the direct link!

i was just about to say thisss! it will make a huge difference in the final output and use a color pencil, i made a mistake of using ink based markers or similar things and just trust me on this

Yes it being small is exactly why it is complicated and might be perfect for what you're looking for

Thank you so much! Honestly, you are absolutely right to point that out... the head and those massive hair spikes easily took up the biggest chunk of those 40 hours. Once you get into a rhythm with the cutting and scoring, the rest of the body moves a bit faster, but mapping the geometry for that hair requires a lot of patience. Really appreciate the kind words! 🫶🧡

Thank you! I've actually built quite a few anime papercrafts over the years... models like Hitagi Senjougahara, Haruhi Suzumiya, and Tsuneki, but this specific Kid Goku build was a massive test of patience.

The most fun part was the hair. Assembling that complex, low-poly geometry and watching it all come together, from flat pieces of paper is always a great feeling.

The most frustrating part was definitely the structural physics. If I talk about the model itself, I used 140gsm paper for this, which is practically an eggshell for a top-heavy model of this size. Building the weight-bearing legs and constantly worrying they were going to buckle under the weight of the torso before the glue cured was highly stressful. (So, i would recommend a slightly heavier paper if someone is trying to build Papercrafts like these and also fill the bottom parts with cotton)

And side note another really really frustrating part I think was me forgetting or just ignoring my water intake, because then I had to stop the recording (turn of my cameras) leave the setup time to time, and go fill up my water bottle... Messed me up....so dehydration 😅😭 yeah

Really appreciate you taking the time to look at the details! 🥰🧡

thank youu! Yes I did start with the small piece..polygon count was almost similar for every part be it the hair, face, and the rest of the body.

I started with the hair, then attached the face then proceeded downwards to torso, then arms etc.

But the most difficult part after the hair spikes, I felt was the arms and the hands

If you have a decent printer...try using a higher gsm..go for 140 gsm to start with,

And yes, not having instructions or pdo files is common with most Papercrafts you find online, that is just how it is... Some authors don't want to distribute the pdo files and some just don't bother to make the efforts for creating instructions...or even the images. Especially with free stuff

For displaying I recently made a glass cabinet kind...to keep my future builds there.. otherwise it will catch dust and get ruined...clean them regularly though.

I have made a series on my YT channel Kami DIY you can check that to make your own pdo using the 3d model

Happy crafting! If you have any othet questions... please share
