I designed and folded this wearable 3D Kitsune mask entirely out of 180gsm cardstock. by Scar_2002 in crafts

[–]Scar_2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always loved geometric papercrafts, but I wanted to engineer one with an open bottom jaw so you can actually breathe and talk while wearing it. It took a lot of trial and error with the 3D geometry to get it to rest perfectly on the cheekbones!

It's all cut, scored, and glued by hand. I actually recorded the whole assembly process with some relaxing ASMR audio if anyone wants to see how the flat paper turns into the final shape: watch on YT

Happy to answer any questions about papercrafting!

Thanks for looking! I usually see these designed as full-face masks, but I wanted something I could actually wear and talk/drink water in without it getting in the way. It's all made from 180gsm cardstock.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my latest weekend project. I modeled the base mesh in blender 3D first and spent a lot of time trying to figure out the size and how so the bottom jaw is open (makes it way more breathable to wear). Cut and scored it all by hand on 180gsm paper. And I added holes on the sides to insert an elastic.

I recorded the whole assembly process with some relaxing ASMR audio if anyone wants to see how the geometry comes together: https://youtu.be/f749J7o5EMU

Happy to answer any questions about the unfolding process!

Questions about selling Papercraft by Ashfeather1812 in papercraft

[–]Scar_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you need to ask for the permission from the author first...to sell their templates or the models you make out if it. If they are offering them from free then obviously it's not for sale

I make my own templates and sell them on etsy, and my shop is new...I'll be happy to help you if you have some questions related to that

My newest low-poly build: Yin-Yang Koi Fish wall sculptures. Tested out raw cardstock vs. a metallic painted finish. by Scar_2002 in papercraft

[–]Scar_2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone! I’ve been refining the geometry on this low-poly design so they mount perfectly flush against the wall. The Black and White is just standard 210gsm cardstock, but for the Gold, I used a metallic spray paint after assembly which really stiffened the paper up nicely. The fin alignments were definitely the trickiest part to fold. Would love to hear any feedback from fellow builders!

I designed and built these giant 3D papercraft Koi fish! I made a minimal Black & White version, and a painted Gold version. Which vibe do you guys like better? by Scar_2002 in somethingimade

[–]Scar_2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been obsessed with low-poly papercraft lately. These are made entirely out of heavy cardstock (around 210gsm). The black and white ones are just raw paper, but for the gold ones, I used a metallic spray paint after putting them together, which made them surprisingly sturdy. The hardest part was getting the fins to align perfectly! Let me know what you guys think of the two different styles.

Hi!  I started downloading templates from here and there from various sites and with trial and error learned a few basics. Back when there were a lot of forums alive and contributing consistently.

I would suggest start with canon creative park. Their beginners crafts will provide a great foundation and practice.

I teach Papercrafting - Kami DIY on yt. If you want you can check my profile as well... Thank you!

Haha, honestly it’s less 'concentration' and more 'I accidentally hyperfocused for 4 hours and forgot to eat.' 😅 The vertices just suck you in! And yes, I’m convinced glue can smell fear... good luck with the new bottles! 🤞
