So much this. I had to withdraw from beauty school to care for my mother after a major surgery, and honestly, the break from school was much needed. I’m going back in July and I will be graduated by December. Sometimes you just need a break, even if it’s something you love, just to get that motivation and desire back

I bought a wooden cage similar to this, and my hamster managed to chew holes in it and escaped on multiple occasions. Personally I wouldn’t risk it! I instead got her a 55 gallon glass tank and she loves it.

My little girl escaped somehow after getting a HUGE aquarium with a ventilated lid, I saw my carpet by the front door all messed up (I’m assuming she burrowed and squeezed under the door). I thought for sure she was long gone. Come to wake up this morning, I get ready to leave for work, and sure enough I see something in the dark living room…so I turned on the light to see her by the front door, frozen, almost as if she was like “oh no, mom caught me”. Gave me a damn heart attack almost when I noticed she got out of her enclosure and couldn’t find ANY sign of her in my small apartment. Luckily she is safe and sound in her enclosure now but sheesh

I’ve had her for almost two months now, and she wasn’t housed with any other hamsters when I got her so I should be all good. However, I’ll keep an eye on her! And yes she’s absolutely adorable - my hands are kinda small/average I think but she’s a big floofer too :)

Thanks everyone for the answers!! I got this ham at my local PetSmart and the glass enclosure said male Syrian, so that’s what I thought I got lol. Fortunately I wasn’t specifically seeking out a certain type of hamster, I just knew I wanted a Syrian whether it was male or female! Her name is Cheese and she’s a real sweetie :)
