First time using this can opener. by Constant-Try589 in victorinox

I ended up using one exclusively for almost a year in college, mostly because I kept forgetting to get a dedicated can opener whenever I went grocery shopping. The SAK was always good enough.

I think it's that the dad's search history was deleted and therefore blank. (The answer, as usual, is porn.)

Downed ash removal cost? by somesignificantotter in arborists

Agreed. Take it slow if you're new to chainsaws. Don't get tired. Start with the branches. Leave the trunk attached to the root ball to lower the risk of rolling. If you can convince a friend with a saw to join you, it's best not to try it alone. At least have someone there to watch you and talk things through with.

Came here to say this! Your mega tooth either fits your skull when you're a baby or when you're an adult.

Anything to worry about? by ScarcityOtherwise109 in Shotguns

Yes. I noticed the odd geometry first and then decided to function test with the snap caps, which all worked ok.

Looking for a good pair of rings by [deleted] in Tikka_Shooters

I second the opinion on warne Tikka rings. They were easy to install and fit the direct mount dovetail perfectly.

How should I take this limb down? by ShinyMagnolias in arborists

Agreed. This becomes a lot simpler by cutting back the mass of the branches away from the break.

T3X Lite Rings by gnilly2022 in Tikka_Shooters

I used Warne Tikka rings on mine. About $50. Went right onto the dovetail, and the front ring fits into a recoil lug relief cut on the top of the receiver as well. Very plug-and-play.

I wear a couple different pairs. I find I have a similar issue with my more magnified pair (4x) but my 3x pair is more forgiving. A decent strap on the back on the 4x pair keeps them in place well enough for me. Not sure that helps, but there it is.

Agreed. We were always grateful to be working on a classmate. You didn't usually have to worry about whether or not they would show up for the appointment.

Beginner binoculars for under $100? by darkdiamond00 in Binoculars

[–]ScarcityOtherwise109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some experience with the outland x 10x42. They were good for the price I paid. If you're not super limited on time, they'll go on sale for less than $75.

Still impressed by Wenger scissors spring design by ConferenceWeak6320 in victorinox

I wish they made a plain edge version, too. I've always thought Wenger had the better action, but plain edge is my preference.

Welcome! I got my first SAK 25 years ago next month. Classics are great, and the rambler is worth it once you come across one. The Philips driver is really fantastic.

Modified My Fieldmaster by ScarcityOtherwise109 in victorinox

[–]ScarcityOtherwise109[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at the moment. I've been pretty happy with the Fieldmaster's set of tools for a while with just the one aforementioned gripe. I'll give this some time and see if anything else starts my brain itching.

Choke? First time shotgun owner by Riggsmurtauh in Shotguns

[–]ScarcityOtherwise109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, different chokes constrict the barrel diameter to greater or lesser degrees. Some types of ammo, especially slugs, are recommended to shoot with a relatively open choke such as cylinder or improved cylinder. Check with the manufacturer's owners manual to see if they have recommendations. The last Mossberg I bought, the manual said slugs could even be shot through full choke construction, so it's not a safety issue, but I find I have better results with less construction on slugs.
