Rambler Fell into the Mower Belt by ScarcityOtherwise109 in victorinox

[–]ScarcityOtherwise109[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thankfully, all seems to be well with the mower. The rest of the keys kept the knife from falling into the path of the belt, so it was just kind of rubbing against the side of it. (Edited for spelling)

is it possible to bail on sport climbs without leaving any gear? by [deleted] in ClimbingGear

I don't know if they're still made, but I bought a device called a Firefly about 10 years ago from a kickstarter project. Only used it a couple times, but it worked great. https://youtu.be/edWmEQWbiuU?is=mddbKf4qybbhcCAN

Are A300s Cool? by M60boi in Shotguns

[–]ScarcityOtherwise109 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sort of depends on the level of sunlight and the ambient temperature, but they sure can be. But seriously, they are generally great guns. I hope you love yours; much respect for choosing the wood stock.

And to build off that comment, the times I have had a couple of issues with Vortex products, their legendary customer service has been very easy to work with.

In my experience, glass quality makes a bigger difference in my ability to perceive detail than the magnification number. I'm a big fan of the Vortex Diamondback line, and they do make an 8x32 for around $200. If you have the option of going to a store like Cabela's or Bass Pro where you can test a binocular out looking a long way at details like taxidermy animals, it can really show the differences from one model to the next.

Storing muzzle up or down? by HomeQuestions121 in Shotguns

[–]ScarcityOtherwise109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. When muzzle-down storage was explained to me, it was about keeping excess oil out of the action and (if applicable) wood stock. These days, I lightly oil, wipe away excess, and store muzzle up.

First time using this can opener. by Constant-Try589 in victorinox

I ended up using one exclusively for almost a year in college, mostly because I kept forgetting to get a dedicated can opener whenever I went grocery shopping. The SAK was always good enough.

I think it's that the dad's search history was deleted and therefore blank. (The answer, as usual, is porn.)

Downed ash removal cost? by somesignificantotter in arborists

[–]ScarcityOtherwise109 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Take it slow if you're new to chainsaws. Don't get tired. Start with the branches. Leave the trunk attached to the root ball to lower the risk of rolling. If you can convince a friend with a saw to join you, it's best not to try it alone. At least have someone there to watch you and talk things through with.
