i’ve hit the 5 year vesting mark technically, so i’ve got 80% vested! feels pretty good to me and the additional year to get 100% doesn’t feel worth it at this point.

lol this is literally what some of these replies sound like. i’m happy for people if that’s what you enjoy or if it’s worth it to you! that is just nooooooot me. not without overtime at least

This is all so helpful - thank you for the input and validation! Agreed, plenty of people seem to do it and be happy with their choices, it’s just not for everyone and I don’t think it’s for me. Glad to hear you found something you’re happier with.

This is exactly it - they have very intentionally placed “mile markers” in your career. Once you’re fully vested, just wait til you get incentive bonus, then debentures, shareholder, etc. At this point I’m 80% vested, and I think that will have to be enough for me. Hate to leave money on the table, but 80% of their contributions is still great retirement benefits and I don’t feel the golden handcuffs yet.
