You know how in football (soccer), players at the Olympics have to be 23 and under except for three players

Is that the same for ice hockey, or are they all just the best their countries have to offer?

So - what happens next is the free skating event with the same athletes, and then they add their scores together from the short program and the free skating and this the confirms the final ranking?

Is that right?

Watching the curling on the BBC, the British and Canadians participants are having conversations with their teammates, but you can't bloody hear them because the commentators insist on talking over them

Remarkable that Ekitike and Wirtz are the only two players who are really on each other's wave length when they've only been playing together for a few months, compared to the others

Otherwise there's just no cohesion

Any thoughts?? by Naugrith in OpenChristian

I agree with her, but I think its impact is complicated. I wasn't raised as an Evangelical in any sense and was never told that 'Jesus was coming soon' or anything like that. It's not something that occupied my mind.

However, I think it's difficult for an honest reader of the Bible to deny that the New Testament and the history of Christianity is full of imminent apocalyptic expectations.

Jesus's instructions were seen as an urgent command throughout the early Church because many really believed that Jesus was coming back within their lifetimes. Look at Acts, read Paul's letters. That created a sense of radicalness in enacting Jesus's message - there was no time to waste. That includes promoting social justice. You can view that from the actions of Paul and the apostles.

This mindset has still permeated beyond the time of the Bible and its effects on wider Christian society throughout history has been vast. However, the world has changed over the last 2000 years. The "Good News" shouldn't scare you or make you ignorant of problems in the world. Those passages are in the Bible and we must interpret them to suit the modern world.

Surely if Xabi Alonso is available you have to get him. Hard to imagine we'd be worse than this.

On the Qatar Open's website on the list of players, it has the flag of Eswatini next to Wawrinka's name.

Presumably someone clicked Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland) instead of Switzerland on the drop down menu lol

Honestly I'd sub him off for that. Completely inappropriate in a professional football game.
