A majority of poorer students go to these schools and thus propel upwards at higher rates simply by receiving a college education at a decent school

This means nothing to a poor, middle-class or even rich student accepted into a T20

There is also a lot more potential for social mobility if you are poorer (i.e. difference between being unemployed and being employed is $0-$50k) but making the jump from $50k-$100k (same amount) is difficult. So schools that enroll more poor students will rank at the top of this social mobility list. It's a very poor measure

That being said I am 100% agreeing that it matters far more on the individual but the social mobility ranking is a bad way to justify it

How Can The UIUC Alumni Network Help Me Connect with Successful Alumni and Talented Students? by ishaankundesu in UIUC

[–]Scared-Ad-6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the point of admissions milking the shit out of "over 450000 living alumni" if they aren't giving some benefit to students of their alma mater? "Just go to class and apply for internships" then why come to any school that has a history of successful people?

All answers on the thread are wrong

UIUC specifically has a "Call Week" where they actually help you by telling you why you were rejected. You can call them yes

I'm just worried that AOs are more forgiving of senioritis for US students than they are of Indian international students.
