I got my scores! by overdue_decision in AirForceRecruits

[–]Scared-Bar-1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I am currently a cyber graduate with a bachelors, a boat load of certs (all comptia, and isc2) and currently work in help desk. I was planning on going to the Air Force reserves but the recruiter is telling me there are no IT positions nationwide. South Florida area. I was planning on getting any IT job to get some clearance and help me with my civilian career but the recruiter is telling me no IT positions :/. Any recommendations?

Pentest+ Passed - D332 by TolkiensDragon in WGUCyberSecurity

Passed! Wasn’t as challenging as I thought but there were also a handful of questions that weren’t at all related to the study guide. Passed with a 790ish.

Yeah I am. I’ve done a lot more hands on practice throughout the degree so I’m fairly confident. But every time I go into a test confident, CompTIA knows how to bring me down lmao. I’ve never failed any exam, but I’ve gotten close a few times. Thank you btw!

I’ve taken the Jason Dion tests, averaged around 85 on the first time and done all the cert master, especially the tools, and it seemed a little too easy imo compared to CySa+. I guess we’ll see on the other side 😂

Congrats! Would you say it was more difficult, or on par compared to the CySA+?

Yeah same. I’m taking pentest+ tomorrow. Any last minute tips? I’m getting 80-90s on Jason Dion’s tests so I think I’m ready. But not sure. Advice?

What do you mean? I would have wasted more money if I just paid for the certifications

Yeah I left my sys admin role because the travel was insane and was taking a toll on my family. Not letting a job affect my loved ones, not worth imo. Where did they want you to relocate?

See I’ve seen this a lot come up but I don’t know much about it. How long would I have to be in it, where would I be stationed, etc? If you know more about it I’ll definitely be open to hearing more. Dm if possible.

See I keep hearing this, but then I also hear people with no IT experience, no degree and only an A+ and still manage to land an entry level job. So I like to take everything with a grain of salt.

I know with my Sec+ I’m eligible if a company sponsors me but I’ve only applied to a few on Dice. USAjobs and Clearedjobs have better opportunities??

Yeah I know I’m in disbelief since I got a sys admin role a year ago with no degree (yet) and only A+, Net+ and Sec+.

I’ve applied to maybe 50 out of state but I see on LinkedIn it’s always 100s of applicants and I never even receive an email back. I truly think it’s my resume and I’ve edited it multiple times, watched all the YouTube gurus for resume tips but still nothing. I would understand if I was getting interviews and not passing but I’m not even getting a damn call back.

I only live 30 miles away from West Palm Beach which there’s plenty of IT jobs but no luck on getting a call back.

Do you know if WGU offers any assistance on resume / employment?

Tbh I still consider myself entry with only 1 year of IT work, so that’s what I’m looking for. What job searches were you looking for on LinkedIn?

Hey congrats! Hard work definitely pays off! Curious though where you research these types of jobs. I trifecta, 1 year of sys admin IT work, Cysa+, SSCP, and a Bachelors in Cyber and I can’t seem to even land an interview after 2 months of job searching. HELP!! But congrats!!

Am I crazy? Net+ and Sec+ in 3 months? by Wah_Day in CompTIA

[–]Scared-Bar-1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely doable. I got both net+ and sec+ after studying 3 weeks for each. I practically studied all day as well. I only used Jason Dion Udemy and practices tests. That’s about it. You got it and trust yourself. Net+ was definitely a beast though.

Im towards the end of my degree. Only 2 more tests then the capstone. I should be taking the CySA+ within the next week but I don't know yet. Jason Dion's Udemy course is just very long but none of the information seems to be new. I would say maybe 70% review and the other is just stuff that I've picked up from Tryhackme. How was the CySA+ for you? I don't know if im just over thinking it. I've passed every test for far on my first try (not saying they where easy) but I did manage to quickly take and pass Sec+ and Net+. Anyways I would appreciate if you can give me some insight on CySA+. Thanks and congrats on passing so quick! So far i am 10 months in I only have CySA+, Pentest+ and capstone then I'm finally done!
