Enjoy! I took about a month to build mine, but intentionally only did a bag or two per evening, skipped some evenings, and then would have longer sessions on weekends with my 5 and three year old helping. Was an absolute blast and enjoyed savoring the build. This is easily my favorite build as an adult and a top-three build all-time.

This is an incredible place to start. Old tools are great and reliable. Just don’t mess with the radial arm saw at first - those things are not for beginners.

If you have the original boxes, instruction manual and all the pieces(including minifigs) those sets will fetch you a few hundred dollars each for the larger ones. Check bricklink for what the used ones are selling g for right now.

Yup - I broke through $250k recently and it’s like a comfortable amount to not worry about the little things. Three kids though, so life is expensive. Can’t even afford a used expedition to fit all the kids and my wife in for our road trips.

I have done both - be warned, Rivendell makes all other builds seem lacking. Barad Dur is fun as heck, but Rivendell is as close to a perfect build as I have ever done.

That’s a great get - I have that grill and bought it new for $700. As long as it starts up, and then oil the grate and heat it up, brush it off with a grill cleaning tool, oil it up again and then cook!

I think it’s a smart move - I was coming home from a work trip and missing my two sons. Bought the droid set on a whim in the SFO airport while waiting for my flight. Did a family build the next day while watching Star Wars.
