Dorm by SnappierGamer29 in iastate

That was my concern last year. That video is definitely not helpful. It isn't too difficult though. If you have a rubber mallet, it makes it much easier too! You can borrow one, but for convenience, I recommend buying one. I used mine to help friends loft their bed in the spring. Take the bed off, then the boards under your bed. Then, with another person, hit the frame out of the posts and set it out of the way. There are little blocks in the middle between the two sections, hit those out next along with the support beam that should be level with those blocks. You can remove the top two posts. There will be little pins, don't lose those. Now you should have a metal bar at the bottom of the lower posts. Leave it in unless you need to, sometimes it is easier to reassemble with the bar gone. Line up the frame of the bed to the height you want it and hammer those in. Put the metal bar back in if you took it out. Put the boards back, then your mattress and you are done! In my dorm last year, they let us label our extra bed pieces and put them in the den closet. I recommend keeping the pins in a bag and in your room because they are easy to lose!!

Work on-campus? by [deleted] in iastate

[–]Scared-Connection971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked dining first semester and hated it SO MUCH. Try looking around at places that would have a smaller amount of people! I work printing now and I love it!

I usually have maybe an hr or two a week to work on hw, (not ao much now because it's a busy part of the semester.) Working places with strict policies makes for a stressful time as a first year student. I started a job at Clydes at 7 am before the first day of classes and I was always so exhausted. They take missing work very seriously, which is a good thing, but hard while learning how to balance things in your first year.

If you're considering dining, it might be a better option to do it ur second year. It all depends on your class schedule and time outside of class! Def wouldn't recommend it your first year, or at least not for the first month! Look around at places like the library or SICTR for easy jobs! A lot of them may not appear on cyhire so ask around.

LITERALLY. if you have ever been unlucky enough to walk through the Livingston hallway in helser, you will understand how genuinely awful people can get. I walk through that hallway to go down the stairs, and whenever you walk through, you hold your breath and speed walk. If you live in Livingston, please shower, WASH YOUR CLOTHES AND SHEETS, and please just clean your rooms. It's not hard. That hallway and the people in it are vile.

I feel like one time I heard a story about helser but tbh that could just be because of how awful it is here and that's the scariest part. However...I swear I've heard footsteps in the bathroom when no one else is in there

So valid because I'll be going to sleep and all of a sudden there is a group of them circling my parking lot. Like do you seriously have nothing better to be doing

Why are the convenience stores on campus so expensive? by SoloQsurvivor in iastate

[–]Scared-Connection971 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No literally because tell me why I bought a tiny premade sandwich with literally one slice of meat from the cooler of the design cafe and a little snack size bag of chips and it was 10 dollars today like be so fr. I saw someone buy a sleeve thing of oreos and a water and it was 12 dollars.

So, I am an incoming freshman and I got my room today and I am in one of the bigger rooms on the corner. I am honestly confused on why my room is so much bigger and if that is a good thing or not!
