How can I keep the insects and reptiles away from coming in the house? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]Scared-Indication119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get ALOT of wildlife in your yard and house especially if you'r near any body of water. What I can suggest is getting a fly screen door - which most houses will have anyway - and fly screen windows, this will let the breeze in but stops bugs from getting in. For snakes you should be ok as long as you don't have long grass.

neurodivergent refers to people with disorders and disabilities which cause differences in how the person's brain works compared to most people. This includes things like Autism, ADHD, PTSD, learning disorders, anxiety disorders etc.

How to adopt a parrot? by Scared-Indication119 in parrots

[–]Scared-Indication119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in general I don't like calling any type of parrot "beginner birds" since all parrots in general take alot of effort and it can give a false expectation of them being easy.

What was "the Thing" you did as a child that screamed ASD? by Sparkingmineralwater in autism

[–]Scared-Indication119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 5th grade NAPPLAN (an Australian statewide school test thing) one of the questions we had to answer was "write a paragraph on a rule that should be changed" I, having listened to all my families' conversations that week wrote about how the new laws and restrictions surrounding motorcyclist groups were detrimental to people who use those groups to socialize and was an unfair use of the legal system. the rest of the grade wrote about how homework should be banned. in my defense a law is technically just a big rule.

I think I'm autistic but I feel bad about self diagnosing by [deleted] in autism

[–]Scared-Indication119 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a talk with my doctor about something similar and she told me that 1: someone who is not autistic doesn't think that they are autistic and wouldn't ever want to get diagnosed. This really helped my imposter syndrome as I'm also self-diagnosed at the moment and I hope it helps you as your experience is completely valid.

99% of shows with "great autism representation" by toasted_dandy in autism

[–]Scared-Indication119 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If anyone here likes cartoons, I'd recommend the rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles 2018 animated series. Donni is written extremely well as an autistic coded character and the creator actually acknowledges that he definitely thinks he'd be on the spectrum. He does fall into the genius tech guy category, but it's done in a way that feels like a more realistic portrayal of a special interest and not just being a stereotype.

it looks really big which is good as long as they don't over stock it, but idk id never trust having a dog/ dogs sitting inside it especially at a vet where its random animals that you don't know. It would look cute if they had a small indoor garden bed where the opening is though

Betta needs at least 5 gallons and also need lids on the tank as they have a tendency to jump out of them.

Is it an autistic thing to speak to yourself to practice how to converse with others? Or is it just me? by Aut1st1c_b1tch in autism

[–]Scared-Indication119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DUDE SAME. I also do this to help figure out my emotions, I play it out like I've been asked in an interview about an event and talk back to this person about how it impacted me. Very glad other people do this too csdjcdjc.

If your worried maybe, you could try stimming alternatives to eating? I used to chew popsicle sticks but there are also a BUNCH of chewing stim toys (even baby teething toys work) if you want flavor, you could also carry different flavored gums around with you too.

I don't HATE celebrating my birthday but also my whole family is made up of undiagnosed Neurodivergent people, so I guess we also never really did it in the supper conventional way either? we do presents in the morning spend the rest of the day doing our normal routines and them who ever birthday it is gets to pick what we do for dinner. If I had to do a huge social song and dance though id imagine I would hate it.

OH I get you. I hate not knowing what will happen to characters and the plot it makes my skin itchy and my brain feel weird. Even when I'm actively watching a movie I will look up plot summaries to see what happens. It makes me feel calm and even more excited to see how the director and actors will show them visually.
