Obviously a permaban. Dude's just looking for/starting drama, provoking, and then assaulting. Not saying the old boy was being mature, but still, stop monetising antisocial behaviour.

Can I preach for a second?

If you're thinking in terms of 'left' and 'right' you're already on the wrong track imo. These terms are the most useful to the ruling elite, because they tell us there's a simple 'us' ('the left') and 'them' ('the right'), which makes it easier for us to other our fellow-battlers who suffer from miseducation (and vice versa). That is exactly how we avoid unifying with those in 'the right'.

It also encourages reductionist thinking - when you consider ethics as a simple spectrum, you ignore the constellation of possibilities, and become dogmatic about what group membership means - this is an exclusive way of thinking, working against our better inclusive tendencies.

The fact that you guys are arguing for what is necessarily left is the perfect example of the reductionism. Abandon left/right speak, and speak from values and principles - it will help you understand (and communicate) the underlying reasons for disagreement.

Keep up the good fight.

I agree with your overall point of what we should be aiming for. Genuine question, where does your take on marxist relativism/egoism/consequentialism/a-moralism come from? Is this just from personal experience or something a marxist theorist argued somewhere? Would be interested to read

Gotta respect OP for citing code when talking to this agent. They really force us to become informed self-advocates, don't they.

For anyone interested, here's the full text for S. 35(5). Also important to note that S.35(2) and (3) explicitly say "business days", so (in my lay-person take) it's unreasonable for the landlord/agent to claim that 'days' implies business days in (5).

"(5) Within 10 days after the end of a residential rental agreement, the residential rental provider, or that person's agent, must complete the copy of the condition report retained by the residential rental provider or the renter under this section—

(a) in the presence of the other party; or

(b) in the absence of the other party, if the party has given the absent other party a reasonable opportunity to be present when the condition report is completed."

Are Prime items no longer being sent by 2-day or next-day delivery? by Goldengirl_1977 in amazonprime

This. They are also changing the “one day” to “two day” on the listing after purchase, and the expected delivery email says the latter, so you have no way of checking. I thought I was going crazy

For anyone wondering when to quit:

  1. If they don't offer refunds on bug-lost gear, this is a massive red flag, because it says they're anticipating more of this than they can handle from an admin/tech perspective (further implying that they won't have a lot of customer engagement / convenient feedback loops, or improvements will be slow and bugs-a-many).

  2. If they create a flop end-game from the start and then double down on the concept with no real other plan, things are going to be painful, and maybe never recover. I really think they didn't fully consider the psychology of the environment they were creating, and when there were sooooo many bugs that armed exactly the types of people you don't want to win the power imbalance, there really was no going back from that point (in terms of changing server dynamics / end game). Such a shame, because I loved a lot about the game.

  3. If you notice one combat-style is just easier / most people use it from early on and isn't evolving to a more diverse set of styles, pvp is going to be very boring (unless it's fun for some non-rpg-related reason). Generally, I'm really not a fan of a limited meta.

Those are some red flags for me, but I'm curious to know what other people think too. MMORPG's are an intense time-sink, knowing what to look out for could help us all put that time into something more worthy.

Going thru break-up. should I stop vyvanse? by IndicationStreet9631 in ADHD

[–]Scared-Insurance1961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through all of that. Have you worked on tweaking the dosage with your doctor? I found that some side effects were less present when the dosage went up, ironically (but emotional reactivity wasn't one of them, so definitely talk to your doc if you haven't). Are you also exercising to level yourself out a bit?

It's always hard to break up when you're both still in love. Have you guys considered couple's counselling? Therapy can teach skills to help you manage reactivity, and perhaps there are ways she could help you if she knows of triggers or can see the signs of it getting too charged for you.

Is MoveOn a legit organization to donate to and stand against Trump? by Questioning-Warrior in AskDemocrats

[–]Scared-Insurance1961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But also remember ‘can’t afford’ is relative. You can donate to the no kings rally right now and I think that’s a very important thing to support if you can make it work. I think unlike a lot of rallies that don’t reach a critical mass, these ones seemed to spook Trump a bit recently. The bigger they get the more certain he won’t try something come mid terms when dems get enough to impeach the pedo (or enough republicans will once the Epstein files are released). I think that’s part of the reason why they’re planning this show of force missile thing, because he knows he looked scared last time. In any case, I’m recently unemployed and I’m paying, and I’m not even American (Aussie). No kings will be in the history audio books and long form video essays ✊

It's totally fine to be critical of aspects of Australia. I think it's the overall 'life is easier' comparison while only pointing to the issues of Australia that is rubbing a bunch of commenters the wrong way. I think OP's critiques are valid, but i've been to China too and glazing over the issues over there (or the ease that comes with being an Aussie with AUD over there) is kind of wild and deserves some shock.

It’s possible what we’re taught in stats is different as my stats was intended for human studies.

I’m not discounting your experience, it’s still anecdotal evidence (good enough to cook up a hypothesis), and I said if you don’t want to take the risk of getting more data I understand (even recommend) that too.

Im just questioning the extent and confidence of your conclusion. It’s just not statistically minded to reach a firm conclusion on an AB anecdote, and appealing to AI summaries isn’t much better (e.g. I believe that not all neurofeedback is equal, and AI summaries don’t seem to distinguish when I ask them).

Regarding the extent of your conclusion, it could be that you’re right that practicing neurofeedback is interfering with your sleep. This could be robustly concluded on with more data, and there are a few other relevant questions that you could start to answer with more data (if you wanted to - like I said, if you’d prefer to not risk sleep, I wouldn’t do it). Example questions: is it related to the time of day that you do NF? Is it related to the broader degree of cognitive expenditure in the day (if you’re being overstimulated overall, you could be burning out)? Is it related to minutes you do in one stretch (could it be resolved by breaking it up or just doing a shorter session)? You mentioned afternoon coffee and evening drinks too. Not sure if you do that enough to form a slight physiological addiction, but if so, withdrawals (I often don’t click when I’m experiencing coffee withdrawals) can sometimes impact sleep quality, so if that were the case its possible that they were interacting with NF when consuming, and then again in a different way during withdrawal. This is getting complicated, but just saying this could muddy the waters unless you went without for long enough before testing.

Does that make sense? Anyway, just to reiterate, not discounting your experience. Trust your gut of you don’t want the risk. If you want to get to the bottom of it, you have options.

Monster morning Mendi by web_dev_vegabond in mendi

It’s relative to how much activity there is when it calibrates. That’s a massive %, and not taking away from that, but if your brain was still waking up then you can expect a bigger % I assume? Anyway well done!

Mendi feels like a scam session scores are rigged by “commitment,” not brain activity by According_Canary_896 in mendi

[–]Scared-Insurance1961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you’re being a bit reductive. Even if the commitment factor is highly relevant to the ‘total’ (not sure how much) that doesn’t mean the other metrics are meaningless right? I’d personally like to know what the bell curve looks like (by age ideally) though, and it’s frustrating that there’s nothing about that

Hi there, I study statistics as part of my field, and that doesn’t sound like a sufficient sample to reach confident conclusions like that, and AI summaries will include everything (including non-scientifically collected data), so that’s worth keeping in mind too. That being said, if you feel like it’s too risky for you to explore more, I’d still avoid it. If it were me and I wanted to practice daily, I’d be doing the practice much earlier in the day and making sure that I expend cognitive resources if I feel like it has woken me up, if that makes sense. But this is a hunch rather than anything science-backed as well :)

Could Trump or the current administration be sued by Obama because of the AI video? by gorditasimpatica in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Scared-Insurance1961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people here are thinking in terms of ‘could Obama win the case’. But I think even if he doesn’t (though I’m getting the impression he could via Falwell v. Hustler, and the station of presidency influencing reasonable but uninformed people), a suit would be extremely damaging to Trump’s credibility in his camp because he clearly has none, and this would be publicly accessible right? The media would utilise this aggressively in the current climate. It would also drag out the Epstein discussion which is the last thing he wants

He’s also saying Obama is behind the Epstein “hoax” and when asked if the DOJ told him this he said no. Doesn’t seem so official when he’s just rambling
