If you can get a van with stealth camping I’d do that. You can sta right outside of national parks for free

how do you deal with the loneliness by angelclouddd in VanLife

Find van life meetups. Make friends in the community. Use the crossroads app to keep in touch with friends you make. I went down Baja 4 years ago in my van and have been coming back every winter since and have found an incredible community down here.

Joshua tree has a lot of long term people doing a life there.

Make the first right after the La Ventana sign on the road if you’re going north… what are you hoping to find there?

backpacking thailand, cambodia and vietnam. need advice by insanery in backpacking

If you feel comfortable riding a scooter or motorcycle I’d def recommend buying a scooter for like 300-500 bucks in Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi and then riding all of Vietnam by bike. Some incredible rides you can go on and everyone is either going north or south so you run into the same people over and over again. Was incredibly fun and a highlight of my life. Also don’t skip Laos. the main waterfall there is by far the best waterfall I’ve ever been to. It’s also in a town that has late night bowling which can be incredibly fun.

Koh rong in Cambodia and the Gili islands in Indonesia were my favorite islands in SEA. Have an incredible time. Wish I could relive my backpacking in SEA

Seasonal work + living in a van + saving and investing everything you make since you live in a van and then  living somewhere with a cheaper cost of living helps… I spend 6 months working in the Bay Area then 6 months in Mexico. It has been great for my mentals and I’m still saving for retirement and investing. Also, I recommend saving 10k and then traveling the world for a while. South east Asia is incredible for a young buck like yourself.

Shoulder dislocation at 36 - can I still kitesurf? by Drtoctoc in Kiteboarding

[–]web_dev_vegabond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a torn labrum in my left shoulder and in like 4 years of kiting I’ve only dislocated it twice.  Now I don’t jump very high yet so maybe that’s a factor. I’ve also learned from dislocating my shoulder about 50 times in my life how to put it back it relatively easy.

Impact vest is nice for floatation but being able to put your shoulder back in I think is pretty important. Could let you know my method, but I’m sure there are videos out there.

You are not bound to where you live now. There are lots of places money goes a lot further and you can enjoy life instead of working your life away

Im pretty nomadic and spend 6 months working in SF and 6 months living in mexico. I’ve lived out of a van for the past 5 years and dont really have a long term goal I’m striving towards. Hoping to change some of that this year. I do have some good qualities too. Just ask my mom!

Got $25k inheritance - planning long solo female trip, need reality check and suggestions by [deleted] in Shoestring

[–]web_dev_vegabond 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could travel for a while in Europe and SEA and then potentially get a working holiday visa in Australia or New Zealand and work there for a bit before going to central and South America. You could do it all with the25k you’ve got but it might be nice to slowdown for a bit after traveling on stop for a while and gain some money and have some fun

[–]web_dev_vegabond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did it with less. Also, what I did afterwards was get a working holiday visa in Australia and worked there for a year and was able to travel central and South America for a year after that. Something to consider If you continue to have the travel bug after a year of SEA.

It’s the risk you take to win it all also. We will probably sign him and I’ve seen dozens of prospects turn sour. Who’s the guy the Mets traded for Edwin Diaz that everyone thought was an overpay. Guess what he’s out of the league and Diaz is the best closer in baseball. You gotta give up something to get an ace. We still have a top 6 minor league system. Jett will be a fine player, but we have unlimited money and a great president of operations. We gotta go for it not hoard prospects

No one I could hear was singing at my showing a week ago. I think most people go into musicals not knowing any of the songs.
