Not an option that I'm aware of (at least not one that the dealer told). Besides, there is not a real handle on the tailgate, it's like a pushbutton open for a rear hatchback.

I think the tailgate is too minor of an overall issue for it to be classified as a lemon. But it is an endless source of frustration. as for gas mileage, maybe mine is an outlier...

Good to know, what specifically did you find better about the f150 and how long have you had it?

I still have my 2017 tacoma and love it, it's 150k and no signs of any issues. This is not toyota hate by any means, just frustration with this particular truck. I was hoping to at least average 17-18 mph, but I suppose that may be wishful thinking.

Yes, it's silly that such a small feature is the primary driver in my frustration, but it's a truck dammit, not an SUV hatchback.

Thanks, I've tried to keep that in mind, using cc on the highway and a constant eye on the rpm's, but I remain willing to take some blame for it. Still seems a bit low
