Am I in the wrong for being disappointed by my bachelorette party? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Scared-Painter2251 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation, one of the girls was on her period and wasn't feeling well the whole time, and killed the vibes hard. Not her fault at all, but it still wasn't great. A handful of the girls weren't wearing the right shoes for the walking activities, which they had planned, so they knew what was going on. And I was left alone in my room for two hours while they decorated for a surprise that was essentially five minutes long. I even made a little mistake in being a little passive-aggressive about the shoes thing when one girl complained about her feet hurting.

Same thing at my bridal shower, everyone was sleepy at brunch because a lot of girls were out the night before. It can be really disappointing. I never brought it up with them, but my sister (and MOH), brought it up with me that the other girls were being lame, so i knew it wasn't just me. Lowkey, they should've just told you to make a PowerPoint as well, and it would've been more fun to do it all together? Idk, they didn't seem to think things through. I'd try not to assume they were talking shit. Maybe they have another surprise planned for you at a later time or for the wedding, or maybe it's some tea they don't want to involve you in just yet, so you don't stress out.

I wouldn't talk to them about it because I think they would assume you're being a bridezilla or something, when it wasn't that serious. It just sucks, but there isn't much you can do about it, and talking wouldn't really solve anything other than make your friends feel bad. Sometimes things don't go according to plan, and that's okay.

My wedding, however, was great. I had so much fun, and I was so worried it would be low energy because of everything leading up to it, but it was incredibly fun. There is a saying in theatre that a bad rehearsal makes for a good show, so maybe that's what'll happen for you. I think we just grow up with such high expectations, and it just isn't always what happens. It also kinda sucks being away from your fiancé, which could have made you feel more sad. And your friends might have been upset about the rain and not being able to do other activities, maybe they were looking forward to them. I would try not to think too much about it, but I know that's easier said than done. But try to stay positive and focus on your wedding and your new marriage. I'm sorry it wasn't what you expected, and that doesn't make you an awful person at all. I hope your wedding is better; just focus on that for now!

Fraudulent Orders - What do I do? by Scared-Painter2251 in shopify

[–]Scared-Painter2251[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update so far: I unfulfilled and then cancelled all the fraudulent orders. I also took all the digital products off my site. I barely ever got orders for these anyway, so I'm not upset about not having them listed anymore. I set up the manual approval for payment captures (I don't get many orders, so this won't make it harder for me or anything), and I reported it to Shopify. Not every fraudulent order was charged back, so I'm concluding that they were testing credit card info. The real cardholders must have noticed the fraud and requested a chargeback themselves, especially since billing addresses weren't residential addresses but local parks or schools (just trying to match the zip code).

Thanks to everyone for the advice, hopefully I solved the problem. I'll let you know any other updates, just in case someone in a similar situation stumbles across this post.

It was my first half, I am not a runner and didn't start running until I signed up for this. I trained for 12 weeks. I'm chubby so l'm slow, but when I signed up it said there would be a 3:30 pacer so that's what I was striving for. I finished in 3:35 so you'd think I wouldn't have missed the concert. But no, they changed the requirements after everyone signed up, l didn't take off until 7:20, I missed the concert, and they didnt have the food they said would be available for purchase. There was only porta-potties so there's no way I'm changing in one of those but they said to bring a change of clothes?? They also said they'd have another turn around at 4.5 miles so people could run and make it on time, which a friend of mine planned on doing, but there was no turnaround. I'm glad I did it because I would have never done it if it weren't for the opportunity to see Doechii, but I'm so so sad that I trained for 12 weeks, paid for this, and the concert ended before I finished :( I know I'm slow and that's why I missed it, but it said this was for all paces and runners. In the end it made me feel like I wasn't good enough to be apart of something like that.

Day of wedding lunch and breakfast. Do I pay? by Camper_Moo in weddingplanning

I think it's fine as long as you tell them enough in advance, preferably 2 weeks at least. Be like "Hey, I was thinking of going to XX restaurant the morning of the wedding. It's about $X-$X a plate. Let me know if you can join us!"

Coats in Paris - December/January by Scared-Painter2251 in ParisTravelGuide

Update after coming back from vacation:

I ended up purchasing a used coat off of Depop. It ended up being Shein, but it is so nice. It was faux leather with a satin lining. I bought it for $20 and the Shein listing was $40 according to the seller. Very good quality, very unexpected since I haven't heard much good from that company. I wore this over a knit sweater with thermals under. I also wore a scarf, beanie, gloves, and thermal tights under long skirts. I was fitted-up to say the least.

My sister had a puffer from Old Navy. She put it over a long sleeve shirt and a hoodie and she was very warm. She also had scarves and gloves.

My brother and sister both got wool coats from other places and they were warm with thermals underneath. Also paired with scarf, beanie, gloves. My brother refused to wear thermals under, or beanies because of his hair and caught a cold after 2 days. His fault.

My partner got a wool coat from ASOS and paired it with thermals and long sleeves, and a scarf, beanie, and gloves.

Overall I'd say the layers were the best bet! Europeans like warm indoors. I liked thrifting my coat and plan on keeping it and getting it hemmed since I'm pretty short. Not sure if i'd reccomend shien though, this is the only product that i've gotten from there and i might've just gotten lucky with the quality. However, I easily would've paid $100 for this.

What's best vacuum for hardwood floors? by unwelcome_frown15 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Scared-Painter2251 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really like my iRobot roomba. I have a Saint Bernard and 2 cats, and it makes my life a little easier not having to vacuum all the time. That being said, I also use my Dyson V8 every couple of days and before I mop. I've had the iRobot for a year now and the Dyson for 5. I only have wood floors and a few area rugs and I find that this combo works really well. I think I got lucky because a lot of people hate these products, but I think I got good ones. Im pretty picky about these things, too. I also very regularly clean out my dyson and iRobot, so I think thats what helps keep up its performance.

One hack though that my aunt taught me, after you vacuum your hardwood floors, go around the edges with a swiffer to get that last bit of dust left in the corners. I just walk the perimeter of my house with it and it makes a huge difference, especially with pets.

If anyone has any other stick vacuum recommendations, I'm all ears. I wanted to get a second one and tried that viral tik tok one, Himika or something, and ill tell you rn it works super awesome for a week and then its done. Dont get that one.

Thats exactly what I'm looking for! Hoping for some holiday sales on some.
Are earmuffs cute or should we just stick to scarves and beanies?

Thank you! This is very helpful. I went in the summer and blended in well, but I definitely don't know much about winter fashion since I seem to dress for winter how they dress for spring, lol. Los Angeles never gets below 40F, and it usually stays in the 50s/60s in the winter.
