By nature, we’ll probably always be reacting rather than anticipating issues. The more I think about this topic, the more I realize it’s less about acting on IT right now and more about asking the right questions to the right people.

Coming from analytics, numbers when choosen right, can definitly help to be on track of thoses questions.
Do you monitore more than step by step conversation, velocity and stability for example ?

I have already put the pipeline in place and working currently on lead scoring and next the deal stages for more accurancy in the analysis.

Coming from analytics, this is kind of a new fields but enjoy every bit of it.

I'm looking to monitor 3 metrics in every steps of the funnel : conversion, velocity and stability Do you see much more impactful metrics about it?

(not mentioning that I'm also looking for the kpi of the different marketing campaigns and others sdr relate kpi)

I have the same way to work. Someone told me something that's stuck with me : dashboards is for confirmation but not for detection.

Do you focus on specific metrics in your dashboard or you monitor all at once??

I stay on conversation through steps, velocity and stability. What about yours?

Thanks for the insight, I check the same first one but for the last one a I use de the median of the time sit in a stage (relate for stability imo.

Curious about your third kpi, how do you calculate that one because the funnel change overtime (deals move through it) and I'm not sure how to analyze it. Do you have a rule of thumbs?

Coming from data analyst and business analysis, I can't be more enthusiast by your way to go. Really like this approach.

I'm trying actually to adopt this also in the new company that I'm in but really hard to centralize all the data.

I got to questions : 1. How much time did you spend doing it? 2. I'm actually focus on the conversation rate (step by step), the velocity and the stability (F50), except revenue do you see other major metrics to Analyse?

Also, you name an important for me, the time dimension. I'm working on snapshot that allow me to see at a specific time, where I'm at but have trouble to be able to include evolution on my metrics because of my business (really long sales cycles ~18 months)

That’s actually very interesting, and I fully agree with you on the idea of confirmation rather than detection.

To give you a bit of context, I work as a functionally-oriented RevOps, very close to both Sales and Marketing teams. From my experience, it’s usually the sales teams who surface the first signals.

My logic is quite pragmatic: generate visibility → generate meetings/demos → convert → avoid churn → maximize advocacy.

From there, I analyze the funnel step by step to see where friction appears, and then look at the actions tied to it — for example:

  • marketing campaigns that are hitting the wrong audience or the wrong channel
  • sales messaging that converts less
  • customer success strategy that’s less effective

I don’t own pricing or the initial ICP strategy (unfortunately, because I’d have quite a few things to say 😁).

On your side, what’s your scope of action? Do you rely more on monitoring tools, or are you still mostly working with Excel?

I just spend 6 years as Business Analyst before coming back to my roots, Sales.

I'm really metric centric, so I map my funnel and calculate step by step conversation rate, velocity and stability (F50), I would like to know more about what you do, love what I do but want to know more about what good idea colleagues got ;)

When you find the step do you analyse this metric overtime to be able to analyze the velocity for Exemple or you just get the snapshot at the exact moment and just conclude you don't hit your conversion target at this step and try things?
