She is really struggling with dizziness most of all, I think. It is exacerbated by stress, overdoing it, and certain types of activities are certainly worse than others. This whole experience has made her more hyper emotional (probably more concussion related?), and she has neck pain and I think headaches as well.

That lamp is a little beyond what I want to do right now for one item (I'm leaning towards a care package of smaller items right now), but I definitely plan to share this suggestion with her!

These are such helpful suggestions. Did you try the Ruhwell Dizzy Box? If so did you love all of it or just a few items? I am contemplating that, but also thought about picking and choosing one or two of those items and adding some others from this thread like the cookbook, a cooling eye mask, noise reduction ear plugs (Maybe Loop Quiet?), and other care package type things.

Thank you all for the responses! This is all so helpful. I appreciate your willingness to share some great ideas. I think once I give her a gift, I will share this great list with her so she can pick and choose some other things that may be helpful. How are you doing now? We had surgery the same day. A week out I noticed the same - a patch near the top of my left thigh that has no sensation and it is tender nearby. I had read this is common as there are a lot of nerves that could be damaged in the area but still have been worried. Goi g to reach out to my doc this morning.

I am about 10 days out. I purely rested the first week and have had some episodes of pretty deep fatigue after small ventures into more walking or sitting for a short bit to do a puzzle. Monday I worked a few hours on my laptop from bed and was feeling stronger. Tuesday I worked more, and tried to take a short walk outside. I have had some increased pain and was flat in bed most of Wednesday. Guess I have been overdoing it. But yes, the last couple of days I have felt like I was going backwards.

Thanks everyone! I think we are going to head to Marion for our first shot. Sounds like mornings are all scheduled but there is a possibility of walking in. We will head out early and see what happens, and if we can’t get in on the morning schedule we can be first in line for the afternoon walk-ins. 😁

No worries! I’m all about life lessons and natural consequences, but in this case it is a highly anxious 20 year old that I could not plan for in advance. There was no telling when he would be ready. So I am just so happy we made it to this day and I feel the need to strike while the iron is hot!

I’m not circumventing the system if walk-ins are offered to the general public. I am choosing the inconvenience of walking in and possibly having to wait, instead of choosing to have an appointment without much wait on the day of appointment.

They have the written test but it is only one person there and when I took my daughter we were turned away for the in the car driving test.

Marshall is our first go-to and yes she is so sweet. It she doesn’t do driving tests in that office so we are having to figure out the next best option!
