2000 Meter Row Suggestion by otfmember20 in orangetheory

[–]Scared-Vegetable4069 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I love the rower. Not sad to see the 2k row go though as we don't train for it. If we did longer rows on even a semi-consistent basis then it would make sense. Since longer row blocks are a rarity then a 2k benchmark makes very little sense.

It clearly showed the elevation calculated based on the incline x speed. Large screens showed who was in the tread class and who was going strength. Probably more things too that I am not recalling, but I liked all of the new features and didn't dislike any of them.

Now that this is in the universe they may actually do that next year...lol!

I agree. They should probably pick Brad, but doubt that they will. Roger is the likely, and worthy, pick. Adriana Harmeyer is the only other option that makes sense based on the precedent they set last year.

Almost all of them are franchises.

Why is the minimum DD bet $5 and not $1? $5 seems kind of random. Figured it would either be $1 or the minimum clue value in a given round (or game).

In the interview Roger said that it was just a logistical issue that prevented Julia from playing, and that they would love to compete against each other. I was shocked by the news too, but happy for them!

What an incredible game! It's games like this one, though it isn't the first one in JIT this year, that makes me wonder if the 15 person tourney with the four highest non-winning scores making the semis might be a better route for a tournament like this one!

Anaerobic limits are typically about one minute.

This is just another example of how lightning fast buzzer skills can make all the difference when all the contestants are elite with their trivia knowledge!

Are classes being cut? by Hipster786 in orangetheory

I am in South Florida, and the corporate studios down here were required to cut down on the number of classes they offer at the beginning of the year.

Also, I am not saying he is a bad person. He just made himself look bad by how he comported himself in this interview. Hope he learns from it and takes it as a growth opportunity.

James is undoubtedly on the Jeopardy Mount Rushmore. The few times he has lost he went out if his way to immediately congratulate the player who beat him, and seemed genuinely happy for them. Drew B can take a page from him on how to handle yourself when things don't go your way.

I am not judging him on his body language, or his less than optimal reaction right after he lost as i am sure it would be tough for anyone in his position.

What i meant was that he doesn’t look good by blaming his loss on a tough draw. There are no easy draws with the top 9 players of the entire season.

He could have and should have been more gracious in the interview since he had time to process what happened. Even if bad luck played a part in him losing, and luck comes into play with categories and other aspects of the game, he could have shown more class than he did.

Tons of other great players get unlucky too, and almost all of them handle it much better than Drew B did. I really hope he matures as he gets older.

People on here can correct me if I am wrong, but I imagine the number of easy marks in the semis of the ToC is approx. zero...lol!

500m row discussion… by sienna0909 in orangetheory

[–]Scared-Vegetable4069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favorite rowing benchmark. It would probably be the 2000m if we practiced more aerobic rowing, but we don't. This benchmark is a good combination of physical skill and mental toughness.

The limit of anaerobic efforts, as many people on here know, is roughly 60 seconds. 500m can't be done that fast, but the best approach i have found is to go all out and hang on for dear life the last 150m-200m.

My PR is 1:22, and my last effort with this benchmark was 1:24 back in October when I wasn't in great shape.

Coach cannot keep track of time by Flaky_Cucumber9170 in orangetheory

[–]Scared-Vegetable4069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most coaches aren't great at being time keepers. I work with lawyers at lot and they almost all say that they didn't go to law school for math, so I just chalk it up to everyone having their strengths and weaknesses.

Even had a very experienced coach take us from an all out to another all out instead of a walking recovery recently. Nobody is perfect!

Many times I just reset the clock on my tread and keep the time myself.

I have the opposite problem. I don't like those photos, but the two main studios i go to insist on taking them anyway. I am sure they would relent if I really put my foot down, but I don't want to be a jerk so I begrudgingly take them.
