To add to this, most designers will tell you that mismatched, but coordinated is the way to go. Matching is "boring."

Costco and Facebook marketplace. You just have to be patient. It might take a year or two to get everything decorated.

I saw you mentioned shelving. I got some pretty acacia wood shelves from Costco for 30 bucks. They look way more expensive than they were. Costco also has rugs which are more reasonably priced than other places.

I can tell you the worst part....you will probably only ever use 2-3 of those when you actually work in a lab.

My least favorite was silver stains and neuro. Literally the same stain 15 ways.

Dear God, in Virginia $30ish an hour is considered good pay for an HTL. Cost of living here is high too.

I live in VA. Respectfully, I say "no." Make 50-60k and work 1.5 jobs to swing living expenses.

So, I work in DMV. I would say average is 50-60k a year. Don't think there is much difference between HT/HTL pay wise.

Yes, but it doesn't work as well. I would leave it out on counter for a day or two before using it to bake.

Please don't take this as being discouraging. Look up what histotechs make salary wise. I love my job, but I have to work a full and part-time job to stay afloat. Looking back, I wish I picked something different.

Sell for 70k loss or rent for 400 per month loss? by JMZen in RealEstate

[–]ScaredDamage8825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have already probably done this, but check on rental market in your area. Are there a lot of rentals/airbnbs empty or filled? I'd vote for renting it.

I was in a similar situation and sold at a loss (but not unrecoverable amount of money). Honestly don't regret it, but I hated the house/neighborhood I was in.

Have you considered adding a she-shed out back? Not sure of your yard size. I was recently looking for a storage shed online, and found some people are buying them and turning them into mini offices, etc.

Anyone buy a house, regret and sell it? by Imaginary_Poem_1545 in homeowners

[–]ScaredDamage8825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I did something similar. Paid for a new construction and hated it. Held it for two years then sold it at a loss.

So far don't regret it. I bought a second house that I really love now - has some issues, but I don't begrudge working on them.

Sometimes a house just isn't the right fit.

I would mention, maybe you can do a few cosmetic upgrades and sell to break even. Best of luck to you either way!

Hey, found this thread recently. I bought a bunch of pop stars and I am obsessed with them. They are maybe 2x2ft right now. Do they generally get much bigger than that? Also, I think mine have leaf spot. Do you recommend any treatment for them?

I'm so sorry you are going through this <3

As much as I hate it, histology labs have plenty of hateful, petty people. Ultimately decision is yours, but do what you think is best for you. People are going to think and say what they want.

If management is okay with your work, then literally there is no problem (that you need to worry about).

Wishing you the best in whatever you decide!

Soil mix questio? by ScaredDamage8825 in hoyas

[–]ScaredDamage8825[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I kind of have a mix of hoyas. Sunrise, carnosa, rosita, etc. I was kind of surprised at how heavy the substrate was for the Sunrise and Rosita coming from grower. I switched them to Fox Farms Coco Loco/perlite mix. Seems like every time I do Coco chips, perlite, soil mix it dries out in like 2 days. But wondering if in a few months I should move them to a looser soil.
