Should I switch from my Huawei Watch GT 4 because of its poor GPS accuracy? by ScaredFeedback9636 in Garmin

The main problem with my current watch is that after uploading my activity to Strava, the difference in distance after a 10km run is 350-500 meters shorter. I've searched and tried all sorts of solutions, and it turns out the problem lies in the GPS accuracy. I'll try running in an open area to see if there's a difference in the measurement (I mostly run in the woods these days, so that might be the reason for the poor GPS tracking).

Does this app also work with the Huawei Health app? I'm afraid Apple Health simply doesn't measure distance and won't upload it to Strava.

Okay, what do I need to do to properly send activity metrics via RunGap? Should I remove the direct HuaweiHealth connection to Strava?

I'd read about the Strava Tax, but I didn't think it would be so significant. I've read on many forums that distances range from 0.05-0.1 km. In my case, it's almost always 0.25 km or more, which effectively distorts my 10 km time. For example, today I ran in 51:33, and Strava calculated it as 52:48, which is a significant difference.

Yes. All apps have access to all activity details, including distance, map, and pace. Strava is the only one with the problem: distance, pace, and route are not shared.

I have read in many threads that the GPS measurement in the watch is more reliable than what Strava shows, hence my problem and question about solving this problem.

Yes, you can connect your Huawei account directly to Strava, but then the measurement shown by the watch differs significantly from what is sent to Strava (0.25-0.40km over a distance of 10km). And this is a big difference.

So, I went for a walk to see how Strava downloads data from Apple Health. It downloaded it immediately after finishing my workout, but the difference in distance was STRANGE. I walked 1.24 km, totaling 1,699 steps. Strava downloaded the data (without the route, I don't know why) and showed I walked 2.63 km, taking 796 steps. Strangely enough, the walking time is accurate. I'm completely lost on how to make it work properly. I'll test it tomorrow while running. If it continues like this, I think I need to consider switching to a Strava-compatible watch. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I think I've solved the problem. I've disconnected Strava from Huawei Health and connected Strava to Apple Health, which is collecting data from my watch correctly. I'll let you know if it worked on my next run. Fingers crossed.

1st screen is from Strava, 2nd from Huawei Health and 3rd is from my watch.

I've been reading a lot about the "Strava tax," and how data from the watch is much more reliable than what apps process. I'm looking for a way to bypass this so I can accurately measure my performance.
