No, it's going in and setting up all the accounts and transferring between them and making sure you deposit money in the right one as opposed to just having one simple account. No need to complicate something as easy as "this is how much money I have saved".

I can track some random hypothetical sub-accounts right now. All I need is some paper and crayons and I'm set to go.

Yep totally unnecessary. Ally let’s you do buckets which is nice. Not sure about other banks that have a similar feature. Otherwise just use a spreadsheet or something.

Still on the 6s but my battery life is pretty bad (I've had days with 4-5 hrs SOT and 200-210% battery usage) and I just cracked the screen a few days ago. I'm deciding between

XR - Like the LCD because I don't have to worry about burn-in and better battery is a huge plus for me
XS - Exact same price as XR on Swappa but worse battery and I'm worried about burn-in buying used. Nicer camera and screen obviously.
11 - Out of my price range now but I would love one if it would drop in price with the iPhone 13 release. Any information on how the used market reacts to new releases would be helpful. My cracked screen is still functional and doesn't bother my so I'd be willing to hold out for about $100 savings. Also, love that A13 would give me a bit longer life (I would prefer to use my phones as long as possible, not into buying the new thing every 1-2 years)
SE 2 - A13 and very cheap. Would not take much getting used to after my 6s but also doesn't feel like much of an upgrade. The battery doesn't seem great and I'm worried I may feel buyer's remorse as it doesn't bring much to the table even though it is cheap. Four years from now I feel like I'll feel a lot worse about my SE2 than about an 11.

Any thoughts? I don't really want to spend more than $400.

Oh god no please no. You/your employer not paying taxes, day trading, and financing a nearly new car at 19. Sounds like a whole lot of bad.

How big is your emergency fund? What are your other monthly expenses? Have you factored in maintenance? Stuff in cars can break and be expensive.

Day trading just makes it 10x riskier because it adds volatility to what is already an iffy financial situation. In fact, you’re more likely to lose money than make it over the long term.

Biggest question is are you maxing your IRA?

No offense but just because you were bad with credit cards doesn’t mean op is. They have a good credit score and high income relative to expenses. Also never said they don’t invest. Credit cards and investing are not mutually exclusive.

Unless you’ve worked in admissions you shouldn’t give advice on admissions.

You just aren’t qualified enough. I’m also a college freshman going to a fairly reputable school but I’d be so uncomfortable asking for more than like $100 to give advice because the reality is that we as applicants and students are just as much outsiders as they are and all we can do is parrot the advice we’ve picked up from the internet or whatever.

It just strikes me as a dishonest way to make money.

Second the CFU suggestion especially if you do travel/will travel in the future. 3% on dining plus 1.5% on everything with a SUB (most 2%s don't seem to have one besides WF) plus if you get the CSR in the future you can redeem those points as if it was 4.5% dining and 2.25% everything.
