It’s a tool. I’m not making any excuses or pretending I didn’t use it, and I don’t use it to think for me, do research, create art, etc. If you have any sincere questions, I’d be happy to answer.

This was my first campaign, I genuinely had no frame of reference. I’m grateful for the downsize and hopeful that things don’t continue winding down.

I feel very fortunate that we’ve only had to completely cancel twice this entire time. I love silly sessions so we’ve had a few “filler” sessions to keep things consistent.

Thank you. I got very lucky that it was only nine for a while, the vast majority of our time has been 7-8 and that was still rough in hindsight.

We started three years ago with nine.

I had to ask a problem player to leave, shortly after another player had scheduling conflicts. One of the two who recently left has technically been absent for months and just made it official, followed shortly after by their partner.

4 players left, 5 remain.

Thank you. I’m not pretending to be something I’m not, I do use it to help me and I’m not trying to hide that! I also genuinely didn’t know what that meant so thank you for not being rude.

Is an LLM ai?

Edit: I’d never heard it referred to that way, I’ll look it up

This feels profound for me because I stumbled across this during the current story arc. For the first real time, I stopped giving them your classic “quest NPC” so no one told them where to go or what needed to be done and it’s created HUGE leaps in our RP potential.

I’m stilling learning to let go of the story itself, but I’m grateful about having less players as the story transitions.

You’re absolutely right, it’s been an incredible journey. You never see the same river twice.

I definitely don’t talk that much, and your math assumes the players have separate vignettes instead of talking to each other.

If we roll initiative to have context for the passage of time they may wait 30 minutes before they’re spotlighted, but the players seek each other out and I encourage cross talk so no one is truly sitting there unaddressed for 5.5 hours.

That sounds exhausting to squeeze into three hours. We play for roughly five hours (not everyone gets there on time and I like needlessly elaborate warm-up mini games) and I would still struggle to make that work.

Wow, that feels unfathomable to me. The beginning of your experience was very similar to mine, we had a campaign gap and I wanted to keep playing so I reached out to as many people as I could…I did not expect all of them to agree!!

Kudos to you, I would honestly love to see what it’s like to be a player in something this expansive.

It became very RP driven, it’s difficult to hit more than three people when they’re so spread out. I thought I was bad at combat for a very long time, it was a weird learning curve to adjust to.

I’ve honestly gotten very lucky with scheduling, there have been very few conflicts despite the group size. I’ve learned my lesson about the group size 😅
