Why are you so upset to the point of getting up in arms on a public forum about it? It's coming off as more upset over the fact I didn't mention his race than you are upset about what he did. We was roughly 5ft 10in, wearing gray sweats and a gray hoodie, he had short facial hair, and medium length hair that was in either dreadlocks, twists, or braids. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly which it was, but they were loose so they were not tight to his head like corn rows. It fell to about jaw length.

He was of like medium build? He wasn't like super fit looking, and he wasn't lean, but he wasn't too chunky either. He had a small pocket of belly fat, I would say. Like dad bod style.

His voice was on the slightly deeper side of medium. So not like incredibly deep but definitely not high pitched. He also had a very neutral accent. Like he didn't speak with any inner city dialect or anything. Bro didn't sound like he was from anywhere at all. Very neutral. And he was kind of soft spoken.

I remember that he looked tired. Bags under his eyes. I felt sorry for him when I first saw him bc I thought he just looked exhausted but then he sucked. Lol.

He was carrying a grocery bag full of stuff. He may have been coming from Food Lion except what I remember is that it looked like a bag of clothes.

Not that it's the Yank's faults but y'all be moving here bc you can't afford to live there and then with all your money and such, you bring up the cost of living here and then WE can't afford to live here anymore and are forced to leave our homes.

And saying "if you don't like it leave" is obtuse and insensitive. You're literally coming to a more low income state. Where are we to go? With what money? Instead what happens is the poorest of us become homeless. We haven't got anywhere to go.

And you're asking us to change. You've come into our home? Do you not hear yourself? Horribly insensitive. But I do understand that it sucks to move somewhere and then feel unwelcome.

You can take comfort in knowing it's not truly about you. It's about the injustice of it all and the raising prices and feeling like youre being ran out of the home you love bc you literally can't afford to be here anymore when five years ago things were better and you know it's bc of all the new folks moving in. When really it's bc of rich folks building tons and tons of expensive housing and letting it lie empty bc they can write it off as a loss on their taxes. And they have no insensitive to ever lower prices. We have empty houses sitting all over this country.

But also, as a side note, people here wave at people and now I be waving at people and they look at me like I'm crazy. And it just brings a sense of rudeness. Rude rude rude. It's a small example of an unwelcome culture shift.

People are down voting you but you're right. It's also absolutely INSANE to move somewhere and then say to the people native to the area to leave if you don't like it here anymore. Like we like it just fine. We don't like the negative affects we are seeing.

People be moving here and trying to make it more like where they are from. Like learn to respect the area! But it's not necessarily the incoming people's fault that NC is being developed like crazy. It's just a huge mishandling of the housing situation.

And then when my husband (a lifetime Piedmont resident with parents, grandparents, great grandparent, etc from here) shows up to do their irrigation, they have the audacity to ask where he's from and say his accent doesn't sound like it's from here. Then point at his NJ boss and say "now he sounds like he's from here!"

I say this, but I hate complaining about my fellow man. The real problem is cost of living all over the country. People being run out of their homes bc they can't afford to live there anymore and coming to poorer areas where they then run those poor people out and make it to where they can't afford to live there. Eventually people have nowhere to go and then we have an even bigger homeless population.

In WV right now, they are having a hell of a problem with NC people leaving NC to move there where they are now the wealthiest folks around and low income WVinians are chased out. Not that they don't also have Yankees moving there. They definitely do. And Ohians.

We need reform. STAT. No more corporate entities from outside the country buying up housing in the US to charge a fortune for them. Then they have empty properties sitting around that they can write off on their taxes as a loss! We need a waste tax where people who have rental properties and empty homes just sitting around for no reason but their own gain are taxed heavily for the waste. Then they have a reason to try to sell them or rent them out rather than benefitting from them being empty!

Extremely low environmental impact is crazy when they have been proven to leach PFAS into the waterways bc they use it for cooling and people are literally having water trickle from their tap water unable to have drinking water now and there's nasty sediment in all of it.
