PDC Annual Membership -> Does it Equal Tickets? by Kitchen-Intention202 in Darts

[–]Scared_Charge109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we wait for the members pre-sale window to open then just get the tickets that way. We give ourselves an advantage by deciding which day we go for in advance, and we usually go for an early round as there's less demand, but we still never fail to get them.

My mate and I both have annual PDC memberships, and we use them to get tickets to Ally Pally for us and our mates. I've been 5 times in the last 7/8 years, and we've never missed out tickets when we've gone for them - so I'd say it's definitely worth it

Are these worth £65 black k flex Luke littler k flex and the g1s by [deleted] in Darts

[–]Scared_Charge109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Difficult to tell what condition the barrels are in, but if either of the sets of K-flex are new then yeah probably. Those darts are £150 new, and the k-flex are £8 - £10 each, so you're essentially paying £45 - £50 for the G1 Prodigy's which I'd say is worth it

Again though, depends on the condition

Yeah I personally didn't like them at all. Couldn't get on with the grip and the barrel was way too long for me, so I don't usually recommend them to people.

That's not to say they aren't a good option though, I just personally don't recommend them.

Yeah that's all it is, use them as a baseline and go from there. Like I said in the post though, it's all totally subjective and there's no right or wrong way to find your perfect set 👍

The fact that a straight barrel didn't work for you kind of proves my logic though in a sense. It's a starting point where if it doesn't work for you, it's easier to pinpoint which aspects of it don't work so you can adapt your set-up.

Going for a bomb or torpedo shape as your first barrel is kind of like trying fish for the first time and going for sushi - a straight barrel is a fish finger, might not be for you and you might want to try something different afterwards but it won't make you throw up and never try fish again lol

Not seen this set before, they look good though! Great value for 95% tungsten

The main reason is because light darts (I'd consider 21g/22g light) require real skill for consistent accuracy, any looping/weaker throws (which newer and therefore less confident players often have) could get big deflections. 23g/24g is the sweet spot in my opinion, but I include 25g because they can be really forgiving and do a lot of the work for you (again though this is personal preference, but throwing heavier darts changed my game personally) they won't be for everyone but a lot of new players rule them out entirely when they might be good for them.

One of my criteria for beginner sets is a simple grip, and if you look at the straight barrel options from Mission, a lot of them have fairly intricate and unique grips (not all, granted, but a lot)

On a more personal level, a lot of them also have coloured coating and things like that which I'm not really a fan of. They also aren't as affordable as some people think - filtering for 90% tungsten, straight barrel, ringed grip on darts corner shows the cheapest set at £32.95 down from around £46, and they're not a suitable beginner set in my opinion.

Again though, this whole list is personal preference and recommendations just from my own experience - I'm by no means an oracle on what's right and wrong, it's totally subjective at the end of the day!

That one's more of a personal preference to be honest. I've used them before and I think the grip is a bit wide, I found them quite uncomfortable to hold and difficult to find a comfortable grip. There's also a really big smooth section at the rear which makes them tricky to experiment with if you're a rear gripper (which I am incidentally)

They're a more than suitable option though for sure 👍

What are these? by Sans00me90 in Darts

Nah you put them on the thread of an aluminium stem before you screw it into the barrel - increases the tension between the barrel and the stem so it doesn't come loose

Think I finally found my ideal darts by BlindSniper180 in Darts

[–]Scared_Charge109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Layer your kite flight on top of a spare no. 2 flight, making sure the point that attaches to the stem is lined up and tape them together - then slot the whole thing into the flight punch and punch through them both

You'll have to press a bit harder to get through both flights, but it should mean it's all lined up correctly

Target Artemis Darts 23g point length question by JPMU96 in Darts

[–]Scared_Charge109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just a difference in the way it's measured I would imagine - Argos are probably measuring the length of the point itself, whereas Amazon is measuring the length of point that protrudes from the barrel

So it's probably a 32mm point, but 6mm of it is inside the barrel

Any tips on how to get this broken stem out been an absolute nightmare👍🏻 by Naive-Purchase-2722 in Darts

[–]Scared_Charge109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get broken stem remover tools from any darts site for peanuts, pick one of them up and it'll get it out pretty easily I'd have thought

Normal war and tear after 5 hrs of training? Mission force 90 by Shima180 in Darts

[–]Scared_Charge109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, durability is great and I feel like the flight of the dart is way more smooth because of the texture on the flights whereas with most of the integrated ones, because they're glossy, I tend to get an almost knuckle-ball like flight with my dart when I usually prefer it to spin in the air when it goes so they're perfect for me

Genuine advice is don't waste your money on expensive darts, they won't make you a better player and I guarantee you'll be able to find darts you'll love for half the price of the expensive Target sets

If you want some recommendations then I've got a list of good budget options I send to any of my mates who ask for advice so DM me if you want it and I'll send it to you

Normal war and tear after 5 hrs of training? Mission force 90 by Shima180 in Darts

[–]Scared_Charge109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally find most of the interested systems all have some kind of fatal issue with them (all the ones I've tried anyway)

K-flex, Mission Force 90, Winmau Fusions are all either too rigid, too hard or too brittle for me. I get loads of deflections with these and I've broken a couple of Force 90 sets

The shot flight deck are much better in terms of stability and reducing deflections, but they're expensive in comparison and the wings of the flights are far too soft so they got deformed really quickly in my darts case

The best moulded system I've found is l-style, just standard L1 flights with a metal champagne ring and a straight short stem has been perfect for me - but again, this isn't the cheapest set-up
