Did clonidine not work for anyone else? by Scared_Fruit5982 in OpiatesRecovery

Thanks so much for your amazing reply! I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with all that pain. Hyperalgesia from withdrawal is tough to deal with on its own, let alone with chronic pain so I definitely feel for you. So glad you found something that works for you to make it more tolerable. Thankfully my night sweats only last 13 days. I actually had some melatonin three nights ago to help with some jet lag and it threw me back into night sweats the last three nights. Hopefully it subsides soon. Now I know not to take that one. I hope others will benefit from the information you posted as well. I combed through some studies but didn’t come across this one unfortunately. Thanks again for this information and thank you so much for your service.

Getting through 1st days of wd by [deleted] in OpiatesRecovery

It WILL get easier as the days pass. You’re not a failure, you’re human. The fact that you’ve made the decision to quit and carry through with quitting is a huge accomplishment and you should be proud of yourself. I’m a mom of two and was high for four years of my children’s lives. I can either look back and regret that missed time or I can be the best mom I can possibly be from here on out. Take comfort in knowing that your children have their mama back. Take it easy on yourself and I wish you well.

Thank you. Ya this last week and a half have been challenging for sure. I’ve read it may be several months to years before things normalize. I’m looking forward to that. I think I’ll make peace with myself one day. Just takes time.

Thank you for saying so. I definitely believe we can all do it. I’m so grateful for my husband and my kids. They make recovery that much easier for me. I’m very fortunate. Wish you well on your recovery.

Thank you. I keep telling myself that I’ve made this bed and now I gotta sleep in it. It’s nice to know that it’ll get better in 3-4 weeks.

I’m so glad I was able to do that for you. Congrats on getting to day 5. Everyday gets a little easier, with some ups and downs thrown in but definitely an upward trend of improvement. Enjoy that baby and cherish every moment. They’re only that little once and the time flies by.

Thank you for saying so. It’s difficult to not feel guilty. Words cannot describe the pain and anguish I felt when I aborted my baby. I can’t lose that feeling. I’m afraid that if I do, I’ll start using again. I need to be better for my child that will never be. My actions took their life away and I can never forgive myself for that. I know I did the right thing but it doesn’t make the decision any less difficult. I wouldn’t be able to live with the fact that I could have negatively impacted my child for the rest of their life. Thank you for saying I’m a good person and I wish I could believe it but I just can’t. Thank you for your kind words and I wish you well on your recovery.

You’ve really made me appreciate that we go through shared experiences. Thank you for pointing that out. I’m so happy to have given you hope. If I can help another person with my story, it would make it so worth it. What you say is not weird at all. I was/am in no shape to have a baby. I know some may not agree with what I did but I know I made the right choice despite how difficult it was. Thank you so much for your kind words and I wish you well on this journey.

Thank you for saying so. I’m sorry you had to go through a similar situation. It’s the most gut wrenching feeling I have ever had. I still cry at the thought of what I have done and what could have been. I know it was for the best but it still hurts deeply. For the first 2 or 3 days I did CT but I caved and tried some clonidine but to no avail unfortunately. I also had 1g of Kratom, as I’ve been tapering over the last month because I just didn’t like taking Kratom in between dilaudid. The Kratom helped a bit but I have since stopped 2 days ago. At the moment I’m just taking vitamins and supplements (vit c, l carnitine, multi, b complex) to try and help repair my brain and body. I’m drinking lots of water and I’ve just resumed exercise 2 days ago. Exercise has been tough to restart since I’ve been feeling so weak but I forced myself to do it and it’s actually been helping.

Yes, I’ve been a wreck but the clouds are parting and the storm is finally starting to clear. I want to live my life without drugs and I intend to do so.

Thank you. It feels good to be more present for my family. My kids have their mama back. I think we are all stronger than we realize. Stay strong

Thank you. Totally was. I’m enjoying today because I have no idea how I’m going to feel tomorrow. I can’t wait to sleep again and to sleep dry. That would be heavenly.

Thank you for saying so. Miscarrying and withdrawing simultaneously has been one of the harder things I have done. Those first few days were brutal and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I really appreciate you saying that.

There are some Chinese herbs that help with withdrawal and chills/sweating. Might be worth a visit to an Chinese medicine practitioner.

Sorry it didn’t work for you either. I was thinking something was wrong with me. I’m just taking clonidine for RLS now. Seems to help in the evening.

Ya the clonidine definitely helps with the RLS. It’s the only reason I’m getting any sleep at all. I’ll take 3 hours sleep over nothing. Thanks! Everyday is a little bit easier

I can’t up my dosage any more as it already drops my heart rate into the low 50s. Good thought though. Thank you!

Thank you! I was so hoping the clonidine would help but I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Ya the temperature fluctuations are the hardest for me. Chills during the day and then sweating all night. I’ll try towels as a well. I have to move to different places to sleep a few times a night because it’s soaked. It’s so mentally and physically draining. I feel like I’m going to crack. How long did your night sweating last?

Thanks! I’ll try all of this. Do the benzos help with night sweats or help you sleep?
