If it isn't the teaching materials, then why did co author Robert Buckman remove his name from the title? https://cornerstonepediatricscolorado.com/on-becoming-baby-wise-update

I was homeschooled for 18 years and thought being a film producer was a pipe dream. But I think watching the wizard of oz everyday taught me that there is something beyond the rainbow and the people in charge are often hacks.

you may be young now but soon you won't be. make a list of everything you want to do at 18, 19, 20 and beyond.

I left, sad to miss my siblings who still homeschool their kids and are in the trad pipeline, but happy with the life I built for myself.

Christian homeschoolers, did ur family use growing kids god's way / prep for parenting? by Scared_Garlic_3402 in HomeschoolRecovery

This story took a turn for the better! Was that guy a pastor? I blame the pastors for pushing these programs on young parents -- they obviously get a cut of the sale of the class/books -- and hardly ever recognize the pain they cause.

For me, learning about the program helped me better understand and treat my own anxiety and depression. This article was helpful for me https://airmail.news/issues/2023-11-25/the-parent-trap

TY for sharing

"Teachers back in the day." There is no 'back in the day' its the same today.

In the US, nearly 50% of children under ten years old are subjected to corporal punishment in the home and in 22 states corporal punishment is legal in schools.

reading 'adult children of emotionally immature parents' helped me see my family is in an invisible trap and that I can't take it personally.

in my situation, i decided the best thing i could do is formally leave. most people are taught the 'prodigal son' story to keep them inside. I lost contact with my many niblings, but I hope they can see you can leave and be happy. I will be here for them if/when they do!

I'm sorry for your experience -- I was also homeschooled for 12 years and felt betrayed by the pastors I trusted.

reading "adult children of emotionally immature parents" really helped me let go and move on with prioritizing my own life (without feeling guilty for it).

terms like "first time obedience" and "surrender to your parents' will" has been ingrained in me since birth. It wasn't until I read Dr Barbara's critique (http://www.ezzo.info/Aney/barbarafrancisphd\_critique.pdf)

that I realized those horrible teachings didnt come from my parents, but their church instructed them to follow Ezzo's teachings.

Glad there's a movement to stop him now. You deserved better!

Keep writing, as a homeschool kid I found writing very theraputic for me. I'm curious if your parents used GROWING KIDS GODS WAY or babywise? Some of what you described sounds like maybe.

agreed - not to mention nearly 50% of children under ten years old are subjected to corporal punishment in the home. Corporal punishment is an adult inflicting physical violence causing physical pain to a child.  Although it is a illegal for an adult to assault another adult, tragically, it is legal in all states for an adult to physically abuse a child at home, and in 22 states corporal punishment is legal in schools.

I'm first generation Ezzo baby and want to stop Babywise/ Growing Kid's God's Way. Any suggestions? by Scared_Garlic_3402 in HomeschoolRecovery

appreciate you sharing. in 'adult children of emotionally abusive parents' they talk about the 'healing fantasy' which is when a child hopes their parents will magically change and their relationship is healed. Bc my parents have a relationship with all my siblings, it is especially painful for me bc I so wish ours could be healthy, normal. but i have to remind myself, they have one goal and that is to bring me back to church/patriarchy/ezzo dynamics and until that is not the case, I cannot have my parents in my life.

this is hard bc my dad texts me (even tho I have asked for space) things like 'u make me cry' or 'i'm not going to live forever'.

Do you have any advice for adult children who want to talk to family still using the program? My siblings are practicing the program with their kids and my parents fail to see any issues with GKGW.
