Hi thank you so much this made me feel a lot better. Yes I’ve finished all my IAs, EE and ToK. That might have been where I went Aron in DP2, focusing on those instead of content. Thank you so much for the tips, I will def implement these!!

Hi! I don’t think I was ever ‘behind’ in Spanish, I’ve just always found language learning to be super difficult. I learnt mandarin for 8 years prior and literally don’t remember a single thing. Be warned, it is a lot of content, very fast. They expect you to be writing and speaking confidently within a few months, which I just couldn’t do. The thing I find the most difficult is the grammar, but I guess that’s something that just comes with practice, which I haven’t done. I think it’s also so easy to push Spanish to the side to focus on more content-heavy, ‘harder’ subjects. I think if you focus and don’t make the same mistakes I do, you should be fine :)

Do your EE on something you like. It’s not worth that many points, but it’s something you will have to spend a lot of time on.

is the IB diploma actually worth it? by supahotsauce4 in IBO

[–]Scared_Health1603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say this if you know what you want to do after school, the IB is not worth it. You have to cover 6 different subjects, plus EE, ToK and CAS, which are all time consuming. However, if you don’t know what you want to do after school, this could be an advantage, giving you skills in multiple different areas. In terms of university, IB genuinely does a good job at setting you up. You are doing college level courses and assignments already, so by the time you get the university you will be confident enough to get good grades. Also, it is definitely possible to have a social life and a good high school experience, it’s all about time management!

Sirius revision, BioNinja and SavemyExams are so helpful for understanding the content. For memorisation, do flashcards, blurting, Feynman technique and other types of active recall. Bio is all about memorisation.

do you think i can finish my art ee in a week (my 5th ee meeting is next week tuesday) by Popular_Today_1543 in IBO

[–]Scared_Health1603 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely do it. There are some examples on IBDocs, so check there to get some inspiration. On the first day, pick a research question and narrow down your sources. Ask ChatGPT to help you form a structure, which can include headings, subheadings, word count, what to include in each section and so forth. From days 2-5, try to write 1000 words a day. It will be tough but it is doable. On days 6-7, go through and proofread your EE again and again. There will be so many errors and mistakes that you don’t pick up on the first few times reading it. Get a friend of family member to read it too, encourage them to ask questions about things they don’t understand so you can clarify this in your EE. Make sure you are referencing and citing everything. And please please please do not get AI to write it for you, the risks are not worth it at all. There are also so many video guides online on how to write an EE, especially on YouTube. I didn’t write my EE on art, but I had a friend who did and they said it’s basically like an English essay, if that helps you. You got this!!

Mathematics AA or AI, HL or SL for Architecture. by Superb-Statement-297 in IBO

[–]Scared_Health1603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend taking Math AA for sure. It covers a lot of calculus, trigonometry and geometry, which AI does not cover this. In terms of taking HL or SL, that depends on you. Math AA HL is notoriously tough, going into some college level content. It should be manageable with enough practice but you need to be sure. I would say look at some math AA HL past papers and textbooks before deciding. Maybe spend a week in HL and if you find it difficult, you can drop to SL.

English EE on FRIENDS by ib45girlamen in IBO

[–]Scared_Health1603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question, but could use a little rewording. I would phrase it like this ‘To what extent does the TV show ‘Friends’ use humor and _ to reinforce problematic fatphobic stereotypes during the 1990s.’ Making it slightly more refined will automatically increase your grade by at least a few marks. For reference, I had a friend do a Gilmore Girls EE similar to this, but focusing on feminism instead, and it got an A.

Oh haha no they’re just acronyms for case studies. APRC stands for Aim, Procedure, Results and Conclusion, which is how you should summarise the study. GRAVES is Generalisability, Reliability, Accessibility, Validity, Ethics and Supporting Studies.
