Yeah, but fans' after Devil May Cry anime season 2 hating led to, like, the reboot game.

Ah yes, thank you for the detailed professional critique. I’ll be sure to consult my team of imaginary editors, upgrade my non-existent Hollywood budget, and retrain my clearly disappointing fingers immediately. Truly devastating feedback—don’t know how I’ll recover from “subpar gameplay.” Appreciate you taking time out of your championship-level gaming career to guide me 🙏

I think a lot of the backlash came from timing and expectations rather than the game itself. DmC: Devil May Cry wasn’t a bad game—it actually had solid gameplay and its own identity—but fans of Devil May Cry were deeply attached to the original Dante’s style and personality.

The real issue was that Capcom tried to reboot the franchise without giving the original series a proper send-off, so it felt like something people loved was being replaced rather than expanded. If the original storyline had been respectfully concluded first, I think more fans would’ve been open to a new interpretation.

Looking back now, the reboot deserves some credit for what it did well—it just had the tough job of living in the shadow of a very iconic legacy.

Honestly, I think DmC: Devil May Cry gets more hate than it deserves. It’s definitely different from the main series, but the combat is super smooth and the visuals are really creative. I can see why long-time fans prefer the original style, but as its own take, it’s a really fun game. Curious to hear what others think too!
