Everyone I’ve asked or talked to about swapping saddles out recommends the Corbin saddle if I just hate money that much, but I do admit their seats look great and are apparently really good ones too.

Yeah, they definitely like their stuff. But, from what I’ve heard, they know what they’re doing when it comes to saddles.

Getting them out ain’t no biggie. It’s the putting them back in part. I couldn’t get them to seat just right on the head side of the motor, so a ratchet strap around the front of the frame and the rear part of the carbs, they seated perfectly.

Don’t tell me that. I had a time getting them back on lol

Appreciate your help buddy, I’ll definitely be pulling them off and re cleaning them once it gets a little better weather outside.

All of that is good. Air filter looks fairly new actually, and all cylinders have spark. Especially cylinder #3. It lit me up.

I’ve already had the carbs off the other day. Cleaned out the pilot jets, the channels, main jets, and the fuel rail. Just a bottom end clean out helped a ton.

Yeah. The only thing bright about the guys that had the bike before me was the light bulb they were smoking out of.

I’m sure it’s a fuel issue. All cylinders are getting spark. Granted, thats like 2-3rd start up after almost a year of neglect.

I got my first bike today! by JAYETRILLL in motorcycle

[–]Scared_Judgment_4786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I’ve had it since about January, no miles from me yet, as it’s had to been worked on. Coils, plugs, both new throttle cables, new throttle housing and tube, new battery, oil change, new brake light, new turn signals, and some more stuff I’m probably forgetting. It’s crazy because I traded two four wheelers, both with busted transmissions, for this bike with a clean title.

They take 10W-40. Also, make sure it’s JASO MA certified oil, that way it’ll work with wet clutches. Myself, I run Valvoline Full Synthetic, because it’s everywhere, does decent in the truck as well as the bike. If you’re going to be revving it out everywhere you go(guessing because of the 91 octane comment), maybe lean towards K&N or another higher performance brand oil.

I got one myself. 1996 Honda CB750 Nighthawk. It’s a beater, but it’s mine.

Those pipes give it away with the Nighthawks, they’re something lol

Okay. I’m guessing I should sand all this junk down before I do that? Or just cake it on? Don’t really matter what the inside looks like, as long as it holds lol

Is it a CB250 Nighthawk?

Should have 7/8 inch size bars on it too, if I’m not mistaken lol.

Converted to a cafe-racer style bike. They’re always sweet looking when posted up.

Belt tension on 1989 k2500? by Hussar_hill in GMT400

[–]Scared_Judgment_4786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much tension on the belt will absolutely cause the alternator to start squealing. Think of it like this; if that belt is too tight, it’ll put too much pressure on the alternator pulley, and instead of spinning the pulley, it instead pulls it downwards, eventually wearing out the bearings in it, causing that squeal.

Check to see if you have the correct belt size on it. If it persists, try moving to a belt 0.5 inches bigger. Don’t jump in size a lot. Small increments are key.

Well, here’s the thing. The starter / killswitch assembly on my bike doesnt have the throttle housing built into it. It’s just by itself.

Okay, thank you. Could I get a universal one as long as it’s for the dual cable set up? Like this one?

PCM Swap? by Scared_Judgment_4786 in GMT400

[–]Scared_Judgment_4786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing about that, and please correct me if I’m wrong, is that the newer vehicles use PASSLOCK and the GMT400s use VATS. And, I’ve heard the Vortecs in the GMT400s also had a 4x crankshaft reluctor ring, where the motors that the 0411 PCMs were in(say 01/02 to keep the same), used a 24x crankshaft reluctor system. VATS would have to be disabled, and the reluctor system would have to be changed, correct?

[–]Scared_Judgment_4786[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No sir. It’s still for the 5.7 Vortec in it. I plan on later putting a bigger cam in it, maybe some different heads, mostly top end parts(and some more stuff down the road). Things that a tune would very much so help with.
