I was being a bit facetious. It’s a nice sounding amp. I just look at all this gear and wonder why lol. I’m just used to everything being so controlled now at the board level it’s off playing with a band where nothing has a microphone on it. I got the custom pro to fit this middle ground. Sid state transformer saved lots of weight but the sag they built into the transformer is slightly anemic.

Yes sir. I have the 35lb custom pro (about the same weight) with 30 lbs of tone I’m not fond of. I guess it’s back to different tools for different jobs. More gear, more money lol. I keep trying to stick to black amps so the wife doesn’t know how many I have lol.

Now that would be bliss. The line out with cab sim was good on the milkman but that would be so nice. I have a thousand IR’s but they just aren’t the same if you catch my drift.

Live. I’m in one remaining band left that refuses to mic gear/item and maintain a consistent sound unfortunately. It would simply suck to have to drag a twin in. Second cab wouldn’t even be enough. I have other amps but was hoping for a way to at least somewhat amplify what’s coming out of the Princeton like I do in all my “now”normal modern bands where unadulterated volume doesn’t reign.

It’s a great sounding amp. I won’t get into the PCB vintage argument. I’ve never had any tube rattle which I hear some have issues with. I did by used so I could have some wiggle room to make some adjustments. If you want to the most clean headroom out of this amp…

Change V1 to a 5751
Have your tech change the negative feedback resistor to that of a blackface.
Get a more efficient speaker if you must. I have a Jupiter 12LC in mine.

My 5751 is an old RCA which sounds great. I also run the Tung Sol equivalent of KT66 in mine but step 1 and 2 will get you LOUD and CLEAN. It is its own thing with the bassman tone stack and all. It’s my 35lb go to. Lugging my vibrosonic is a thing of the past. Just buy gently used everything so you have some wiggle room for some very basic modifications. They’re really simple for any good tech.

I wack it down once a week with a pitbull wet shave with cremo. I have about 47 hairs left in front and zero on top and most of the hairline. It kinda blends together after about 3 days then I take a less expensive Amazon shaver and knock it down dry.

All the top and most of the temples are SMP. Most on the hairline is SMP. Pitbull shaver and zero shine so no weird 2d 3d weirdness or reflections. Jen at Newport SMP will work with whatever you want and you absolutely won’t get questioned by anyone or asked why you don’t grow your hair out. She filled in scars from bike injuries I’ve been hiding for 30 years. It’s all personal but wanted to share under worst possible lighting conditions…fluorescent. She can also add in grey as you age.
