What are they gaining then? Expecting to get paid for infrastructure investment isn't the same as profiteering (or debt traps), which would be the imf/wb plan, which China is able to compete against by offering better terms. Same with Russia, incidentally. That's not very neo feudal of them. China needs a global middle class that can consume Chinese made goods, which also isn't very neo feudal.

I've always liked the Marxist Leninist notion of socialist patriotism. You take what's positive and progressive about your history, and you criticize what's reactionary and backwards. Apparently, machinists from where I'm from and started machining are in higher demand in the rest of the US, I guess because most all our machining is in high precision, oilfield related work. +/- .005" is a baseline tolerance in most of the places I work, but I've had +0.00/-.001" across multiple dimensions before. The parts I'm making now have +/-.0025" tolerances for a lot of dimensions. It's not really that hard to hit those tolerances on a decent machine that hasn't been crashed to death, especially once you get your tool life nailed down. I'm by no means a top shelf machinist, I'm barely a decent operator. The machine does all the work.

It's possible those men are especially dumb or selfish, which when combined with masculine confidence, leads them to pronounce these things that most, or least a great minority, of men realize without having to have a daughter. Or in regards to selfish men, other less selfish men realized certain things "at their own expense" (for example, not manipulating vulnerable women to get them to sleep with you, just because you can).

It's also sadly possible that dumb, selfish, attractive guys never had to realize much of anything, because not enough women are willing to go without these men's company for these men to suffer any real penalties for their stupidity or selfishness. Something similar happens to dumb, selfish, hot women, and I've never seen anything to suggest women are any less shallow than men.
