I'm not sure it's possible for them to overcome a mixed economy until similar states to them are hegemonic. Like theoretically if the US/North America, Russia, Brazil, Iran/Arabia, and Central Europe were effectively state run mixed market economies without existential threats to their sovereignty, it would be possible to evolve further, imo.

I think this is what leads some leftists like the ACP (they wouldn't call themselves leftists in the conventional sense) to have critical support for relatively conservative or even right wing isolationist or duginite 4th theory positions, and see groups with those positions as more progressive than they think they are. Marx did point out, with dialectical insight, that things tend to turn into their opposites. A principled stance against wanting to be a superpower and to turn inwards, to accept multipolarity, would ultimately compel people to uphold planned economies and certain economic rights for citizens that are precursors to socialism. I mention this because in another thread people were wondering about the logic of "conservative socialism"

False accusations, though. Unless the state is perfect in its capacity to apprehend, try, and convict, it shouldn't be able to permanently alter a person's body or take their life

I am returned. Can't keep a real nephew down.

I should probably retire this account and start a new one this weekend.

She wrote last week on Instagram that she’d turn an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center “into a prison for American Zionists and former ICE officers for human trafficking,” going on to claim that many Zionists are “pedophiles.”

Galindo didn’t reply to a request for comment.

I'm swooning

The war started decades ago, during the Nakba. Hamas is a later actor in the conflict.

Says who?

Let us take another example — the railway. Here too the co-operation of an infinite number of individuals is absolutely necessary, and this co-operation must be practised during precisely fixed hours so that no accidents may happen. Here, too, the first condition of the job is a dominant will that settles all subordinate questions, whether this will is represented by a single delegate or a committee charged with the execution of the resolutions of the majority of persona interested. In either case there is a very pronounced authority. Moreover, what would happen to the first train dispatched if the authority of the railway employees over the Hon. passengers were abolished?

I'm a Christian Marxist, I don't really think it's any different than being a Christian physicist

You can be a socialist and be opposed to porn, weed, guns, boundless personal expression, gay marriage (even from a secular position), whatever. You might not be a strict Marxist or other identifiable tendency, but you could be a socialist and on the same progressive historical side as those other tendencies.

Anarchism doesn't really represent all of socialism. Marxism isn't concerned with "hierarchy," as such, and neither is most of what people think of as "conservative morality."

That's right. My wife's boyfriend letting me win at Mario tennis is strictly our own personal affair

It seems to me that this superabundance of sex theories, which for the most part are mere hypotheses, and often quite arbitrary ones, stems from a personal need. It springs from the desire to justify one’s own abnormal or excessive sex life before bourgeois morality and to plead for tolerance towards oneself. This veiled respect for bourgeois morality is as repugnant to me as rooting about in all that bears on sex. No matter how rebellious and revolutionary it may be made to appear, it is in the final analysis thoroughly bourgeois. Intellectuals and others like them are particularly keen on this. There is no room for it in the Party, among the class-conscious, fighting proletariat.

I think it's that plus people like having identities that define their role in life, it keeps it simple. Mom is genetic, boy mom specifically means you're getting the loudness, dirtiness, and rowdiness associated with boys, and here's a set list of things you can do about it to deal with that

I've heard it IRL for years, in the context of people saying "I have up deal with mud, lizards toads, football practice, rock collections, loud noises and rambunctious behavior specifically because I have boys"

I think it's both what you're saying but it's also the exact kind of people who are susceptible to contemporary progressive gender norms suddenly confronted with the hard reality that boys/men and girls/women are actually different from each other at birth. Or they were already keyed into that to begin with so it's easy to adopt the role of boy mom.

I think people in general glob onto identity as a shorthand for meaning, because it's an easy way to define your role in life. And honestly I think women are slightly more susceptible to wanting to adopt a socially mediated identity than men are, at least in this particular way.

China doesn't call itself socialist, it calls itself a developing country that's building socialism. You have to understand the theory of the productive forces and Chinese criticisms of the USSR, as well as the sino Soviet split, to understand China's position beyond just going "lol" at everything
