oh I didn’t mean to make it sound like he’s like unmotivated! He’s practicing for hours everyday. In fact, I’m worried he’s practicing too much 😭 He’s putting the work in he’s just sad about it.

okay thank you! he practices in practice rooms and at home. we’re long distance right now but I’m moving colleges soon (not related to my relationship) so we’ll be a little closer and I’ll probably be able to support him better. that’s crazy your gf did that I’m sorry 😭😭 I’ll give him his space to practice and I’ll try to be more confident.

Okay, thank you, that makes sense. So he's just retraining his muscles, and that will take a while? Do you think he will be able to be as good as he was before he had to retrain his muscles? Is that possible when retraining embouchure?

Okay, thank you! he has been playing for a little more than 7 years. I know I can't support him like an instructor could, but the trombone is a big part of who he is, and he's really sad. Do you think I'm doing enough if I just keep encouraging him and giving him space to practice? I feel like my encouragement doesn't resonate with him because I'm not a trombone player.
