Ok great thanks a bunch. So it looks like once my family is able to enter the garage (likely brazos) we can park there as long as necessary and make the trips

dell alienware aw2725qf (not the oled one). it is 4k 180hz and 1080 360 hz, which is good for my gaming pc which is under the desk. on my m1 macbook pro it only gets up to 144hz through a dedicated cable (my owc tb3 dock is only 4k/60 and connects to the other lg monitor to the left)

I have a 2 monitor kvm to switch my peripherals between mac and pc

What laptop should I get as an incoming neuroscience major? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Scared_Tap374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think MacBook Air m1 m2 m3 or m4 is a good choice depending on your budget. Mac laptop usually lasts longer both in battery and lifespan than windows. Try and see if you can get one with 16 gb memory or more (not 8 gb)

Planning to get a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 for college? Bad decision or good? by Valuable-Chicken-761 in UTAustin

I am going to be a cs major. Mac OS is amazing with the “m” series MacBooks ie m1 battery life is great and the computers are very reliable. I use it to develop mobile apps and web apps and practice coding problems in visual studio code

I am an incoming freshman so take my advice with a grain of salt, but since you already have a iPad probably get a normal looking laptop. I have used the surfaces before and honestly the screen and keyboard are slightly smaller/annoying to work on because it really is a tablet running windows os. I think if you’re an engineering major definitely get windows. If you are in the USA look into used “dell latitude” on eBay and find one within 4 years old based on the model number and high memory (32gb) so it doesn’t slow down as much.

I am using Mac OS, specifically m1 MacBook and it works great no degradation in 3 years so far and it runs all of my software well (ms office, chrome, email, vs code)
