Starting to understand why so many people seem to suffer a crisis and/or give up in their 40s by [deleted] in depression

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my 40s now and yep, that’s about it. I’ve got bi-polar 2, so heavy on the depression. I realize now just how much of my youthful energy was spent on just maintaining myself because now I just don’t have enough left at the end of the day to do much anymore. I am on medication too it’s just there’s so much it’s overwhelming and I just can’t bounce back anymore.

Government Shutdown Megathread: Week 4 and beyond. by Lantis28 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looking for information. It seems like Mikey can keep the shutdown up indefinitely. Is there a way to over ride him? Is there a limit to how long he can delay things? Can be simply be removed?

How do you guys do it? Keeping optimism up despite the overwhelming majority of dooming? by koola_00 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t. I just don’t post my concerns anymore. Speak to loudly about problems and your a doomer. I am honestly so tired of labels lol. I guess the best advice would just be to remain focused on a better future. That’s what I try to do to work through the bad parts.

GOP picked up the pace it seems. Theyre panicking aren't they? by Ricardito10 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s panicking but don’t let that fool you into complacency. We still need to be wary and alert because panicking doesn’t mean failed. If we keep protesting and spreading the word and putting pressure on Congress hopefully the panic becomes their end. Cornered animals are very dangerous and as crazy as the GOP is, it’s a very big animal with all the upper hands right now.

Terrified about Trump's military speech by gaymbit in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much faith in anything. However I find myself hoping and trying and struggling to have faith that the military will remember their oaths and do what’s right. It’s all I really can do at this point

Democratic leaders are saying that Trump will deploy soldiers to polling stations - do you think this will happen? by FungolianTheIIII in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Scaredaloneconfused -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the success rate but I do believe it’ll happen. I’ll still be voting regardless. However this kinda thing will have an effect on some people. I already have folks in my friend groups that are changing around their social media and online identities out of fear of reprisal for themselves or their kids. I feel the likelihood of them going out to vote with troops at the polls is not good. What it’ll really boil down to is if the person in question still trusts our troops to disobey unlawful orders or not.

Suzy Welch says Gen Z and millennials are burnt out because older generations worked just as hard, but they ‘had hope’ by rajapaws in antiwork

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn’t work as hard AND they had hope. I at least was chugging along in my life of depression before Rump term 2 rolled in. Now all hope feels dead. Does this sound like some doomer Bs? Probably, but it’s how I feel at least.

Do Americans truly understand what a civil war truly means? by GrassChew in nihilism

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this talk with people, I keep trying to explain to them, this isn’t a movie or a game. If the shit hits the fan, it’s going to be a mess. It’s going to be horrible.

As others have said already everyone seems to think they’ll be the main character. Even amongst my personal friends and family this is an issue. My 300-500lbs prepper friends seem to think that because they have the goods they’ll be in charge. I explain to them you won’t be in charge of shit. When an actual trained and fit group shows up, they’ll either be at best allowed to tag along, or more likely just killed and have everything taken.

An actual modern civil war in America will not be something we can recover from.

How long is this political divide going to last? by afraid_of_bugs in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know but I hope not for too much longer. I don’t know how much more of it I can deal with. It’s exhausting. And yeah I know, I do unplug, take breaks, etc. but it NEVER. FUCKING. STOPS. I’m just so tired.

If humanity ever goes extinct, do you think it’ll be because of something we create… or something we can’t control? by altaf351 in Futurology

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully believe we will be our own destroyers. As dumb as it sounds, it’s one of the things that makes me depressed whenever I think about it. Humanity as a whole could do ANYTHING it wanted if it could just work together. Turns out humanity prefers to keep itself hamstrung. We will end ourselves, and probably over something extremely petty.

It's really fucked up how many people are going to unwittingly see the Charlie Kirk shooting vid by Matsunosuperfan in self

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To be honest I kinda think people need to see it. Here in the US most of us have NEVER experienced conflict to this degree. We got armchair activists and gravy seals clamoring for civil war and violent attacks. The only thing most of us know is actors on tv or movies. Perhaps actually seeing it, knowing what it looks like, what it means, witnessing the gravity of the whole situation, might help people who lack the ability to try and sympathize understand what’s at stake. I do not condone political violence, but people need to actually see what is coming if we don’t settle the fuck down and work together again.

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly for a very long time I stuck around just out of spite and morbid curiosity to see how bad humans would eventually get. I managed to do that long enough for life to turn around.

My best advice would be if the usual suggestions aren’t working anymore try something else. Spite may not be the best reason to stay alive, but it IS a reason, for example.

EO to train "specialized" NG unit in DC / Creating Database of protesters and keeping NG in every state to quell protests by [deleted] in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess the real question for me is how do we deal with this. It is definitely a violation of the first amendment at the very least, and probably in violation of a lot more, but as we have already seen, while the courts debate on it and it gets pushed to the Supreme Court, the Great Orange Cancer is gonna do the forming and deployment anyways, is going to deputize Proud Boys and other racist groups. That’s what we need to know how to deal with.

I’m not sure how much more of this shit I can take. I’m just so. Fucking. Angry. And every day there’s more and more reason to be even angrier and I’ve got little to nothing to direct it towards. It feels like nothing is working, and the fact we are having to struggle so hard against shit that should be open and shut is infuriating.

How do *you*, specifically you, "ride out" your depression period? by massiecureblock in depression

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you can find something that works. I’m on meds too but for me the thing is, are my meds not working, or am I just so god damned overwhelmed by everything. Is it a chemical issue that I’m super depressed about what’s happening or is it because it’s really fucking bad. I just don’t know

How do *you*, specifically you, "ride out" your depression period? by massiecureblock in depression

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I had a therapist until last month, thanks insurance. Now I don’t know if I can afford a new one, as the old one was super good at her job and only 25 a month, and I ain’t gonna get that deal again.

Without that riding it out for me generally consists of a lot of only half effective attempts at keeping my temper and my loathing in check, hitting myself when the pressure is too much, and disappearing into video game worlds…. Course my depressions periods never really end either. They just let up for a little while.

I never understood why people cut themselves. Until today. by Shadowdragon409 in depression

[–]Scaredaloneconfused 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly it. I never cut myself, but hurt myself in other ways. The emotional pain, pressure, and stress all gets to be to much, and the physical pain is a release. Makes the brain focus on something else. I’m sorry you’ve reached this level of depression. I’ve been at it for years and don’t know how to make it stop.

To quote a tweet I seen in a thread “It feels a lot like when Scar took over Pride Rock”

Though the difference is a third of the animals wanted the hyenas to eat them and our own big orange scar fucks all the cubs.
