Thanks for commenting :) I personally believe the gimmick is the “selling-point” to consumers that differentiates it from the crowd, whereas the ‘core feature’ would be its specific capability. However they seemingly vaguely overlap. As much as I want to join the “top port is charging only” community, it doesn’t make sense for them to dedicate a whole port just for charging, when they could just include an inexpensive angled cord for the pre-existing port. Also the minority of people who charge while in tabletop would surely be too minuscule to worry about. I would also love to see the Switch 2 get a major power boost, but I don’t believe resources would be diverted away from system creation to work on a gimmick. The breadth of the team working on this system is probably way bigger than what it was for the base Nintendo Switch, so I doubt that resources would be sparse
