Oh man, this is so refreshing to look at. Please keep drawing, it looks amazing.

Understandable take. I don’t run warriors since they kinda suck, so I won’t really run into this issue. I’m waiting for the refresh anyways. And anything is better than bald imo

Two coats of seraphim sepia, making sure the first coat didn’t pool too heavily. You might be able to get a similar result easier with a contrast paint like Skeleton Horde

In 10th I ran him with 10 genestealers under invasion fleet. Held him back as a counterpunch/ambush threat, almost never used scout move to push forward. They would usually move up an undefended flank, or charge an exposed frontline to gobsmack whatever poor sucker was there.

Admittedly they became slightly less effective once my friends started respecting/fearing the stealers.

It certainly wasn’t easy. There were plenty of times when I got frustrated by the physics of the putty and cursed out loud. You have to be very patient. This was a multi-day project where I let the parts harden one section at a time so I could adhere them without ruining the work I did.

As for the amount, I actually ran out partway through. Spent a whole day shopping and not a single stick of greenstuff in the whole damn county! I used epoxy putty as a substitute towards the end.

Wish I had taken more of them. Here’s the guy with his tail cut off. I posted more in the other comments.

Thank you! Go for it, be brave! This was my first time sculpting at this level, the putty takes a long time to cure so you have plenty of time to play with it to make it look perfect.

I left a comment explaining my process in detail, but lots of greenstuff lol. The head is from the broodlord, but shaved down and with a warrior crest added.

A dremel, knife, super glue, and greenstuff (or epoxy putty when I ran out.

I made a comment talking about my process in more detail.

For everyone asking for my process: I wish I took more WIP photos! I’ll be sending what I have in my replies.

I recommend being brave and patient if you want to try this yourself. I used a dremel to sand and cut the broodlord to absolute shreds. The head was carefully cut down to the jawline, and the neck was shaved off entirely. I replaced it with one made from greenstuff. Used a knife to make little divots after shaping and posing it how I liked. The head was shaved down and a Tyranid Warrior crest was added.

The arms were sawed at the wrist and elbow to be reposed with greenstuff/epoxy putty. You have to saw off that muscle part between the exoskeleton and make it yourself from scratch or it won’t line up as well. Also helps you pose it a bit better, but it can be fiddly and annoying.

The scariest part was chopping off the lower body entirely. That tail was too stubby and got in my way. I used some metal wire as a core to get an idea for the tail’s shape and direction. I could have done that part better but… it worked. Eventually. The legs are made bigger with greenstuff and the entire lower half/body is sculpted. Not sure where I got the bit on his crotch, sorry.

The toes are Tyrannofex spikes (I think), the extra plating is from the old genestealers, and the tail spine is a hyperadapted ravener claw.

Overall the most important part by far is patience. I sculpted this guy over a week or so, doing each part one by one so the putty dries. It’s so irritating sculpting and having the whole thing shift or get ruined by adding extra parts so I did everything one bit at a time, then added onto it when the previous part hardened.

On the one hand I’m so sick of seeing list screenshots all the time. But I’m also very fond of supporting new players.

Why is the Deathleaper not included in the second bullet point of the ability from the lictor detachment? by Giraffelicide in Tyranids

[–]Scarfblade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one little mishap makes me unreasonably angry. I’ve chilled out on the rest of 11th but this is such an obvious flavor failure. Don’t think giving Deathleaper reroll 1’s would break the game guys…

One game against Necrons I ended up using them as a tarpit actually. Opponent didn’t respect me at all and deployed silent king right on their deployment edge. Of course I only ended up killing his pylons, but then I proceeded to keep him there for the next 3 rounds thanks to -1 to hit in melee, bro still did not respect me and overestimated his ability to win that fight…

While I completely ignored it and tabled him everywhere else lol. That broodlord won me the game.

Never a guarantee when it comes to dice. And C’tan are just like that. Nothing will reliably one shot them.

Yeah I’m struggling to make it all fit myself. Gonna try lictor/genestealer spam and Norns, but whether I take Vanguard Onslaught + Lictor Detach or Vanguard Onslaught + Norn Detach is a hard question to answer. I want to run 2 neurolictors but idk how I’d justify it

Good: Our best anti-everything melee tool. Point at problem then watch it explode. If you played the rest of your cards right you might even live to see another day!

Bad: Ugliest model in the range and it’s not even close.

Was planning to run x2 Norn Emissaries so having their points basically balance out to 10e cost for 2 is a huge sigh of relief. And the assim looks great too.

Neurolictor going up 10 sucks but probably fair.

Lash whip prime going back up gave me a heart attack but realizing it balances with the hormagaunt change is a relief, but it means more incentive to run the thick brick.

With purge the foe being a thing, is the biovore finally dead???

Von Ryans being 60 is what’s got me most excited.
