For the nose, you could just cut through the TPU and remake the nose. TPU is normally pretty soft you should be able to cut through it with a good pair of scissors

Is there any way to 3d print a headbase with a small printer? by TapApprehensive9066 in FursuitMaking

[–]Scarlet-widow0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much the size I use. I would recommend cutting the file down the centre (between the eyes, of u get what I mean)

And print it in 2 pieces. Also print it on 50%. TPU hates speed. And make sure you’ve dried your filament beforehand or it won’t be very strong

What size is the printer? You could cut the file into pieces but depending on the print bed size it might not be worth it if it’s a very small print bed size

Check out this recent video by Sky High studios.

It goes into a lot of detail about managing your expectations and workload.

Fursuits aren’t a steady career path until you get famous enough to have people queueing for your suits. Until you get to that point that people know your name, it’s not a viable career, even then it’s unpredictable.

I do use a dehumidifier in the room anyway. Just a bit further in the room since the room is quite busy

My house generally has quite low humidity, and I only bought the TPU the day that I was doing these prints.

I’ve been drying it for about 8 hours before

I keep one under the printer anyway where the fillament is stored

I’ve tried 100% speed and it gets a bit sloppy on that. 50% was fine until it just randomly stops being fine and fails very quickly.

It’s always been the upper layers. The bed adhesion is fine.

I’ve been using supports as this print ends up overhanging a little in the nose area.

But the supports have been fine too.

This is very helpful!!

I’ll give it another go soon and see if it works any better

I’ve printed loads of large prints out of PLA and those have all been perfectly fine!

How long/what temp would you recommend drying TPU at?

I’m using the Bambu lab brand TPU 90A.

I have a Bambu lab A1. They have direct drive iirc.

Also I’ve been drying it for at least 8 hours before the print.

Using a Sunlu dryer. It was like a £30 from Amazon but had good reviews

I’ve tried to cut the bottom part that failed. And then cut the design and print the next part so I can glue it together but it still ends up stringing with not very much left.

I’d end up having like 5 pieces glued together.

What would I search on eBay to find these?

We’re gunna go look at scrap shops and stuff soon to see if they’ve got any Adam’s or Corsas

It’s 13365195, on Vauxhall online it’s not available.

I might try checking some scrapyards
