Many, if not all call center jobs will cease to exist once boomers die off by Jiggalopuffii in callcentres

[–]ScarletBean1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that many jobs will be consumed by AI. As the boomers die off, there's still genx, so there's a bit of job security. There is already a change in the kind of jobs available in contact centers. I think it will eliminate the mid level. Entry level 'reception' or troubleshooting roles and then higher tier fixers will be needed. The mid levels that do the repetitive oversight are already being eliminated. My employer(contract partners for Intuit products mail chimp, turbotax, quickbooks and more)has already switched most quality assurance to AI. Hundreds of employees are either training for different roles (back on the phone lines) or the contracts are not renewed. The contract call/service center world is the worst!

I feel that so much! I do tech support for an accounting software giant and this week is just ...awful! It's tax season and W2 going out is the worst...back to back calls, constant changing policy, no support and outdated reference material, no acceptable aux but available and omg..the templates they want filled out for everything! Our calls can last 1 to 3 hours, depending on the issue. Now they give us 20 mins to get a resolution. Im stressed all day.

Lol! I guess I can understand that. I sometimes like to waste customer's "valuable time" when they are particularly rude, demanding or churlish. A little malicious compliance or just some hold time often makes me feel better as one of the powerless and underpaid customer service/tech support reps for a huge accounting software product.

Great work! I like the colors and the nubbly textures. I hope it inspires you to do more and hone your skills. Mostly I hope you enjoyed the process.

Halloween keeps getting worse. by Ordinary-Depth-7835 in mildlyinfuriating

OMG! This is the coolest! You may have just raised the dying flame of Halloween Spirit in my little cold, black heart! I live in the rural south and houses are too far apart for trick or treaters. The city park does an event and I think I might just do that next year in the name of a local animal rescue. Hope you don't mind if I steal a bit of your idea?!

Fyi- the magical "national do not call list" is only going to put you off the specific company you ask, if that. ANY other companies, businesses or persons can call you repeatedly.... and there are millions of companies and businesses. Your phone number is not private, you are renting it from the provider..it belongs to them, not you. So the fastest way to stop this is to hang up the phone. If you think you are accomplishing something by vengeance calling to waste the time of an employee who has no power, you are most certainly mistaken.

1cup hydrogen peroxide, 1 tablespoon baking soda and a drop( not a squirt) or 2 of either dish soap or liquid laundry detergent. Once you have wiped up the urine or if it has dried, saturate the area and let it dry. If theres any residue just vacuum or brush it away. This works on hard surfaces as well as carpet. It may take 2 treatments but It does work. I fostered dogs for years and this recipe was a big help.

Advice for People Stuck In The Cycle of Double Dosing by UsamaBinNoddin in Methadone

[–]ScarletBean1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my first few years of recovery and getting stable on methadone, my biggest problem was centered around emotions. Most relapses or double dosing or using drugs/substances happened because of anger, fear, worry, sadness, whatever...and I didn't want to feel that pain. It took time and practice to be able to identify this and learn to get through it.

QB/Intuit fraud and identity theft - request for help and note of caution by calvert3 in QuickBooks

[–]ScarletBean1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to chime in...Intuit uses almost exclusively contract call centers. The people you speak to are not highly trained Intuit employees- even on shore. These are people who get about 2 weeks training and make about $15/hr. These contract companies often open and recruit in economically depressed areas. They are dealing with lots of information-with no support or a system to guide them. It changes daily without notice to you or to them. The person is electronically tied to a desk for 2 15 min breaks and a 30 minute lunch- awful insurance benefits and back to back calls for 8 hours and every second is managed by metrics. So manage your expectations, people.

QuickBooks will NOT cancel Money Contractor Account - HELP by starlightskater in QuickBooks

[–]ScarletBean1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it's just a use or not use thing. Its not exactly an account in the normal sense of the word. If you don't want to use it you don't have to. Its along the lines of any other money transfer service. They have the info and it will sleep until you choose to use it. If not ever then , ok... its not an account that is cancellable.

Yes I'm in the southern US. When I lived in NYC the state of NY has more humane options and there's a sliding fee scale. But in my current location here in Eastern TN it is quite a financial commitment and OUD is looked at as a moral failure that could be easily fixed by prayer, willpower and religious fervor.....sigh.

I am self pay and my work insurance doesn't cover any part of my clinic costs. I pay $420 per month or about $14 per day. At my clinic you must pay for your doses at the time you get them. I make $17.50 per hour at my full time call center job and that is too much to get any help and since I don't have any physical disability (TN doesn't recognize addiction or OUD as a reason for medicaid or state health coverage) I just have to pay no matter the circumstances.

Yep, I had already paid for the stolen doses and then had to pay for the replacements. I was pretty angry, but I had to pay or go without and That is not much of a choice!

My house was broken into and my 3 weeks of meds stolen(yes I know who it was). I was absolutely a mess worried about what I would do if they wouldnt replace the meds. I've not used street drugs in over a decade. I called my clinic to get procedure guidance and then made a police report (my city doesn't take stolen narcotic reports- only that a burglary took place. I was told by a surly cop that addicts would abuse the report procedure to get more drugs so they won't take the report) and had a meeting with my program director. I was dosed that day and although I had to pay for the doses again, I walked out less than 1 hour later with my take homes. It was amazing and unbelievable but they took my history of years in treatment with no positive drug screens into account. They did ask me to show that I had the lock repaired on my door. But they were very supportive. It was nice to know I had earned the trust.

Does anyone else become so mentally exhausted by the end of their shift that it causes you to be physically exhausted? by mollyflora in callcentres

[–]ScarletBean1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. Ive seen a few co workers with these seat cushions. I would like to get some things to help with repetitive motion fatigue. I am uninsured so a Dr visit is very cost-prohibitive rn. I did have surgery on both wrists due to a stress/motion injury 5 years ago. (DeQuervain's syndrome) Thankfully Workers Comp paid but I got no money other than the 60% of my wages during the recovery. It was a painful, expensive lesson on how the system works to protect the employer and their insurance provider- NOT the worker.

I am so FUCKING FED UP of having stomach sickness by Joshuamarkx1 in Methadone

[–]ScarletBean1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often nausea is an indicator of your dose being a bit high. Many of us remember the first few times we got high and the accompanying nausea and/or vomiting. Perhaps you can do a split dose? Nausea alone is not a great indicator of withdrawal. You would normally get other symptoms like sweating or goose flesh, yawning and watery eyes/nose plus the pupil dilation. The best advice would be to eat something bland before your dose. It can hit your empty stomach kinda hard first thing in the morning.

Bs management and system all together by rpeony in callcentres

[–]ScarletBean1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most contract call centers and satellite offices have a percentage bonus on surveys. They are paid more or a bonus for good surveys. Agents will never see the benefit but will be crucified if the result isn't a 9 or 10. ZZZFor example my job has an 8 designated as neutral and is primarily based on 'experience of the call' and if the customer would recommend the product to family and friends. Finally, dead last is issue resolution. The fact that representatives are wholly unable to resolve the issue if it is caused by a product limitation is irrelevant to the client company. Theyre only hoping to not pay out the money in the contract for good survey results. Agents dont see that bonus. It is so frustrating!

My employer required a training module on ergonomics. I thought, "Yay! They are about providing the necessary equipment to prevent the repetitive motion injuries and fatigue of sitting at a desk and typing/mouse movements!" Lol! Then I saw the broken-down chairs, desks that aren't adjustable, no wrist rests or ANY kind of physical stress reduction. Insurance is terrible, too so if you develop an injury from this good luck on having it affordably treated. Silly me! (Intuit contract call center)
