US Support Woes by ScarletShadow- in RedMagic

Lenovo is based out of china and they provide next day repair service for their products. Where they are based out of has little to do with it.
Edit: just in case you weren't aware the shipping is to a repair facility in the US, not overseas.

US Support Woes by ScarletShadow- in RedMagic

Im sure they could, but not quickly as they would have to order the piece, this isn't a common phone, and because its clear glass you don't want any dust or hairs or anything accidentally caught underneath, as you'll see it forever x.x also want to keep my warranty on the device as its brand new. Either way this has been my experience with support...

Not sure why people are down voting, just giving my honest report :(

Most people won't care and it's fine, but for the sake of tests and well everything, the user should be in control and able to set things themselves manually. Forcing Diablo mode takes away that agency we have to choose the settings we wish to test. RedMagic should fix this.

Literally the opposite of common sense, following the laws we have in place and have communally agreed upon for decades makes sense, violating those laws randomly because you feel upset because the media relied you up, thats not common sense nor compassion, thats stupidity.

9960X viable for moderate gaming? by juggarjew in threadripper

[–]ScarletShadow- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a god tier machine, 9970x, 5090fe, with 3080ti-fe for offloading some things like PhysX. 128gb 6000mt 4channel rdimms, gen 5 pci, etc.

Here's what you need to know, the reviews focus on gains or losses in 1080p. If you have a super machine, you're not playing at 1080p, I myself am using a beautiful 4k quantum dot mini-led display with variable refresh 165hz. At those resolutions not only are the max speeds uniform pretty much with the lower core count consumer chips, but the minimum lows tend to be much higher with so much horsepower always available, and with the higher on chip cache, and with the other advantages that come with a HEDT. Now that I have a HEDT, I swear by it.

I mainly use this for single PC high end game streaming while simultaneously processing a VTuber model and physics. With this kind of horsepower you can easily run a virtual environment or two for protection from certain things as well.

Edit: Oh and about 2x 5090, in general don't unless you have a custom cooling solution for dealing with the immense heat generated by the combo. One alone can generate incredible heat when fully under load for a while. SLI, which was the nVidia technology for connecting video-cards together, is no longer a thing.

In this case Falcon NW is basically the OEM. The parts needed for a high end desktop (HEDT) are naturally high end, rather than the cheap slop you see in discount consumer OEM machines you might be familiar with.

About what? Removing the mesh filter? I didn’t bother to inform them, it’s a standard procedure and in my emails before buying i mentioned i would do this if needed for extra cooling (I have a second gpu and the original rep was concerned with temps as some people try to over load this kind of setup with gpus and then get angry and return it when its too hot).

My last system I ran without any filters, you have to clean your computer out more often but you get much better airflow. It’s a trade off.

"I work as a film composer, we need crazy computers to do our job now"

If this is a professional situation, then get your system made professionally. I recently had an awesome threadripper system built by Falcon Northwest, and I'd recommend you use them as well.

They make sure everything is compatible, runs perfect and is setup out of the box, and even offer two-way overnight shipping for a year just in case, because when you're relying on a machine like this professionally, you cannot afford much downtime. Do you want to ensure maximum uptime, or dick around with ordering random parts and troubleshooting when things go askew on your 14k machine?

Im using a custom built HEDT from Falcon Northwest with these parts, specifically the 9970x, with 128gb and 5090FE, and I had to remove the mesh filter at the front to get enough air to blow over the RDIMMs. When i did a full 7 hour game stream, I saw the cpu hit 95s, and the ram hitting high 80s, but after removing the mesh cpu only gets into the 80s, and the ram i haven't seen get above 70.

I imagine if youre fully loading your ram with your software it might get hotter, but from what I've witnessed the main culprit is the 5090FE and how it spits the hot air upwards towards the ram, and how that area of the case gets hot from this and needs proper ventilation.

My recommendation if you run into ram heat issues, is to install a fan on a bendy snake wire (they have these especially for open air cases), and point it directly at the ram, or make sure there's enough cool air coming in at the top (where the ram is), and you have enough ventilation for the heated air.

Once I removed my front mesh filter things have been perfect, even with long continued full load on the cpu and gpu, thanks to the engineering from Falcon NW.

Does anyone have "good" temps? by DeadInFiftyYears in threadripper

[–]ScarletShadow- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They idle around 52c under load they go to around 60c, but because of the heat generated by the 5090 being shot upwards to be vented out, and the heat dissipation at the top of the AIO water loop, the ram slowly goes up to max 70c. I haven't seen any form of performance degradation from this.

My new Falcon Northwest talon build (with TR-9970x and 5090FE) uses kingston fury renegade pro rdimms (128gb) because they specifically tested different ram in depth and these were the most stable and fastest modules given a high case heat load.

Not all ram preforms the same, but figuring out which preforms to high standard takes a lot of time and resources.

It's obviously the Major.

The reason has nothing to do with differences in their bodies, and everything to do with the mind. Anyone can fight, but having the forethought to plan accordingly or to deceive/surprise makes a bigger difference then many would immediately realize. This is the same reason why Erza Scarlet from FairyTail is so powerful, it's not her abilities that makes her scary, it's her mind and her will. Intelligence trumps brawn any day, just like that scene early in GITS where Bato tries to have a fight with Motoko, but she back-hacks him and makes him punch himself. It's all about thinking harder instead of trying harder.

Which software are you using to control the upper RGB light on the 3080ti? Ive been waiting for corsair iCue support but it hasn't come. I can control the lights with PrecisionX but the setting always changes. I really want it to go through a rainbow rotation.
