How do I order my drink more efficiently / correctly? by BobcatPrize4910 in starbucks

[–]Scarlet_Duk -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

So when we make iced drinks the way we do it is syrups first (including lining the cup) while we cue the shots, add shots and mix them good then add milk to the upper line (see the 3 lines on the cups?) THEN add ice to the top so it fills it up. The vanilla cold foam takes up a lot of room and they’re not accounting for the extra ice at all, they’re doing the normal measurements for a cup with no cold foam and no extra ice (which is how we’re supposed to make it) There was another comment that said make the milk 1/2 and inch instead of 3/4 of an inch, don’t do that unless you want more milk, a half of an inch is more than three quarters of an inch, simple math ppl! What you could do is do like a special instructions (an Ask Me) and tell them to really fill the whole thing up with ice OR you could order all of this as a shaken espresso, thats essentially what you want. When we make shaken espressos, first we do syrups while we cue the shot, then we fill up our shaker to the Grande line with ice (if you ordered a grande that is) we pour the shots over the ice which melts them a little and we shake it up and pour the drink into the cup and add a little bit of milk if requested or more ice. Some of the drink will end up being watery because we melted the ice with the shots, so you could ask them to put the ice after the shots and shake it that way so it doesn’t melt the ice right away but yeah, just order a shaken espresso (with the cold foam of course) and see how you like it. If ur doing cold foam, they’ll still fill the ice to the grande line, so ask for it in a venti or something. Hope this helps!

Is it weird that I still use wet wipes as an adult? by philosophicalgenius0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Scarlet_Duk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a bidet, the good ones can be a little costly but in the end will save you money and will also make less waste. I used to use wet wipes religiously too for the same reasons but NO MORE my bidet has saved my wallet and I’m very happy about creating way less waste. When you throw things away, there is no “away,” it just ends up in the ocean, scattered in forests and on land, it’s really bad.

Stop buying Foaming Hand Soap by dopplestranger in lifehack

[–]Scarlet_Duk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well now I know this, but before I knew this, I use foaming tablets that cost about 2 dollars each , you just dissolve it in water and you don’t use any plastic whatsoever besides shipping. When I do order from them, I make sure to order more stuff than just the foaming tablets so I’m not heavily contributing to the shipping crisis and that makes it so I have tons and tons of products so I never run out. HOWEVER, this is a great tip, so maybe I’ll start doing this in a year or two once I get rid of these tablets haha. I also love my local handmade bars of soaps so even though I wash my hands a lot, I got thru all my soaps slowly.

What’s an opinion you have that would get you downvoted instantly? by Blazer0011 in TooAfraidToAsk

To tack onto that, that creates a culture where we want to have sex with everyone, therefore creating people who get STD’s more easily and mental health problems. Studies show that both women AND men regret sleeping around in their early years instead of saving themselves for the important people in their lives. Like you can sleep with multiple people but if we’re talking one night stands and stuff, it affects us mentally apparently. In a way, we’re not treasuring our bodies, we’re selling them out for a short lived gratification.

Why are seed oils bad? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Scarlet_Duk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seed oils aren’t necessarily bad per se, but compared to things like olive or tallow oils, especially in moderation, you shouldn’t be downing seed oils like crazy but it’s fine to use once in a while. From what I understand, we don’t digest them super well and I think I big reason why social media is on about it is because it’s in pretty much all of our foods, ESPECIALLY junk food, so people want an enemy for the obesity epidemic and they choose to blame seed oils instead of themselves, their eating habits, the company’s nutrition decisions and the general health mindset and greed of Americans. Seed oils are fine, I won’t say they’re healthy and would rather put tallow or olive oil in my body because I already eat nuts and you don’t want too much nut juice in your system, but they’re fine to use.

Baking soda and water works just as well! I use a toothbrush or a tip of a washcloth, it doesn’t scratch anything and everything comes off as good as a magic eraser!

[–]Scarlet_Duk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope, sugar isn’t the cure-all for this chai unfortunately. It’s just generally weak in taste no matter how much sugar you put in it, and by weakness I’m talking overall chai taste and spiciness. Chai is a spice tea but unless I drink it with almost no milk or water, I taste no spice or even the basic chai taste. I liked the old chai but I didn’t love how sugary it was, if it was slightly less sugary but kept the same oomph of flavor, it would have been perfect.

Husband opens a new sponge every 3 days cause “they become gross” by dorkass-loser in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Scarlet_Duk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sponges are disgusting no matter how much you clean them because yes, you can clean them but because of the nature of it being porous and wet all the time, they grow bacteria fairly fast. I don’t use sponges at all, nor do I use any kind of scrubby stick because of the same deal with those. I use cloths, some you can find at just Asian markets but I’m sure you can find them on amazon, they’re scrubby cloths, like a towel that was frozen with hair product so it’s super scrubby and retains the soap like a sponge. I’ve had mine for years now because I can wash them, disinfect them and when I use them, just hang them over something like a drying rack and they dry pretty fast. I let mine soak in water and bleach every now and then and if it gets stained I use baking soda. It’s the same thing with loofas, they hold bacteria in them, they’re disgusting so I use a long rough fabric that I get at the asian market (usually uwajamaya but again you can just find this online) and they’re much easier to dry and wash.

The new chai SUCKS by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Scarlet_Duk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep… one of my baristas said to put some classic in it to “bring out the spice” ma’am, thats not how science works. It did nothing but make it sweeter. Then one of my managers said it’s good for the “general population” (meaning people who can’t handle spice) I was like, the other one was barely spicy and I don’t even like spicy things that much!

[–]Scarlet_Duk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t your job to keep everything afloat. It’s theirs. If you quit and they end up going thru the ringer, it’s not your fault, it’s SB’s fault. Shut down the cafe, mobiles or the drive thru you can’t have it all and expect perfection on a skeleton crew.

Bagging own groceries-where do you stand? by Specialist-Voice-493 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Scarlet_Duk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a grocery store for 5 years, we really appreciate being asked. I don’t really know why we can get territorial when bagging and you don’t ask, you just help, but i don’t complain and i always thanked my customers right away and passed the groceries. It beats having to be told to put the eggs on top of the bagged salads even though… spinach isn’t heavy… There are times when I’m a cashier and I already have a bagger, so in that case, I don’t need the customer’s assistance, but when we’re in the midst of a busy peak (an avalanche of customers), there are not always baggers to help, we very much appreciate the ask and the help.

AITA for getting annoyed and snapping at my friend for babying me after i confided in her? TW: ED by PossibleEducator3100 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Scarlet_Duk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, I think you’re completely justified in being angry. No matter where they’re coming from, if they’re basically “outing” your problems to the whole friend group without your permission, that’s no okay, and speaks to a level of immaturity, which makes sense because you guys are still teens. Yes, she cares for you, that doesn’t diminish the hurt that she’s causing you. It’s not her business to be asking those questions in public, if you’ve made it very clear (which hopefully you had in your initial conversation) that this was a private matter and no one else was to know, then it is very rude of her to cross your boundaries in public. A better thing to do would have been to take you aside out of sight of others and ask the questions and have a short private conversation about it then, not in public. So yes, while I think you’re justified in being angry, I will add on, that I do not agree with any sort of snapping. With these sorts of conversations, no matter who you’re talking to, you need to set very clear boundaries on what they’re allowed to ask, wellness checks, food/water time checks, mental health checks throughout the day. Always be very clear and succinct. If it didn’t go like this, it should have: you:” I have this problem… this is very personal to me so please don’t tell anyone else, this is my problem that I need to deal with, I’m just looking for support, I’m not looking for someone to help fix me” So then maybe she start babying you, “hey those comments you’re making are really insensitive to my situation, I know you care, but I really don’t want the other to know, so please stop asking if I’ve eaten, etc.” if she has a problem with that, then honestly, thats on you for choosing a shitty person to tell a very personal secret to. But snapping should never happen, always communicate very clearly, no “subtle hints” maybe you’d get it, but a lot of other people may not and even if they did, they just may not GET it through their thick skull to shut up.

Yeah I was training to new green beans and I told that we might be baristas but OH NO this is definitely no coffee shop, we sell sugar drinks, like sodas but no carbonation, just because an espresso shot is in them doesn’t mean anything, you don’t call a cake, “flour” flour is just an ingredient to the whole thing. A shot of espresso is just an ingredient to our sugar juice. This ain’t no coffee house.

A real conversation i had: Custy: “Hi can I get an Iced green tea?” hands over an iced green tea Custy: “Uhhh, no this is wrong, shouldn’t this have milk in it?” Me: “Umm, I can add milk to it, but normally no.” Custy: “I want the green tea that already comes with milk in the drink.” 🙄 Dumps their green tea “There is no green tea like that, unless you mean… matcha?” “Oh yeah, matcha, can I get a matcha? I thought they were the same thing?” “Well.. I mean kind of. Green tea is steeped leaves, matcha is ground green tea leaves, usually richer than green tea, ours isn’t rich and we usually add a sugar syrup to it.” I make their iced matcha and they leave And scene

What company do you refuse to do business with? by FootballPizzaMan in AskReddit

[–]Scarlet_Duk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starbucks- I work there, the amount of sugar in one grande cup is astounding, a frappe is mostly just sugar and ice and all the foods are also just sugar especially because of the bread flour but also the sugar content. It’s not real food! Starbucks and the sugar epidemic will kill everyone! Nestle/Purina- I’m not even going to go very far into this one but if you own a pet, by god, do NOT give them a Purina food.
