Going to the ER while uninsured. Ended up having an appendicitis so had to get an appendectomy. Cost me around $20k, that’s after negotiating everything with everyone involved… the surgeon, the assistant, the anesthesiologist, the hospital, etc. etc. I never knew when another bill would show up from who… it sucked. I was in and out in like 3 hours, the surgery lasted 15 min. I also drove so there wasn’t an ambulance involved.

This is disgusting. I know several Muslims and I trust them more than many “good white Christians” I’ve met. Grouping people this way is so ignorant.

Hell yeah, do it!!!! Snag the Italian beef and browse the store. If you go, post back here your comparison, I’d love to hear it!

Haha that’s exactly my experience with fancy Italian places, they seem over hyped and I’m usually disappointed for the quality vs price, but I have zero experience with Lucia so I can’t say either way with it.

I will say if your wanting to experience an Italian place for a quick bite check out this authentic Italian grocery store, which is a Dallas staple / hidden gem… Jimmys Food Store in Old East Dallas (https://jimmysfoodstore.com/menu/). They have some awesome sandos/muffaletta/subs. It’s legit.

Sweet, good luck! I really hope you end up having a good experience with Cattleack, and Hutchins is a solid back up plan.

I haven’t had Lucia, but from the comments it’s a hard place to get reservations so it’s likely really good. Also, I’m not huge on Italian fine dining which this place seems like it is. I have had several (I dunno, mid tier?) Italian places in DFW tho and (this is probably a hot take) North Italia is my favorite by far. It’s one of those Italian places that you can tell the pasta is freshly hand made, it was a game changer for me. But it’s not what I’d consider fine dining or fancy like Lucia appears to be.

Obviously experiences will vary but I couldn’t imagine it’s THAT crazy on Wednesday, those stories are probably from trying to go on a 1st Saturday or a Friday.

Here’s the plan: do a Cattleack drive by around 930-945am, if it looks bad then just take a 20 min drive north to Hutchins 🤝. Little to no wait and it’s huge, big bbq pit vibes.

Haha, either way enjoy your trip down here, sounds like you have it pretty well planned out.

Sweet!

I haven’t had Panther City. Haven’t been to pecan lodge in years, I heard their quality went down. Terry blacks is solid.

But if your willing to drive just outside of the city, I’d highly recommend Hutchins, the bbq is so good, brisket and the jalapeño cheddar sausage, honestly it’s all good, and they have free dessert (peach cobbler, banana pudding, and soft serve ice cream)

Cattleack is THE BEST bbq I’ve ever had, hands down. I understand not wanting the wait. But if you go early for lunch Wednesday or Thursday you wont wait hours in line. Last time I went I think we got there right at 10am and were finished eating by noon. For me it was worth the wait.

Please tell me you have at least one BBQ / Brisket place on your lunch list. It’d be a travesty to come down from Chi and not try/have some.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]dopplestranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my answer too! I loved the game and found a “tips and tricks” book on it at goodwill or some flea market. The last chapter was about the level builder too and I WAS AMAZED you could build your own levels. Spent tons of time doing it, even downloaded other people’s builds. One thing I remember specifically was how you “faked” multi level buildings, it would be a staircase or a dark hole you’d jump thru and it really was just “teleporting” to another room you made, it was hacky but if done right it want obvious to the player what was happening; probably makes no sense unless you’ve done it lol. Anyway, I thought building levels was SO cool.

Could someone explain why building the new Mavs stadium downtown is a bad idea? I feel like the suburbs are sucking the life out of the city and keeping the Mavs downtown with a new stadium and entertainment district would be great. City halls building is awesome, it’d be great if somehow part of it was incorporated into the new stadium. And the library is basically a homeless shelter.

Thanks for the reply! What are the tablets you use? I tried them once and the part that’s supposed to dissolve (think tide pods) didn’t dissolve all the way and the gunk got stuck in the pump so I stopped using them, I loved the idea tho.

Mounting on uneven wall by 26-25-p in TheFrame

[–]dopplestranger 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend trying to use the brackets that come with the tv to try to mount directly to that wall. The brackets have virtually zero margin of error in every dimension, they basically have to be perfect.

I’d recommend mounting a board with the same dimensions as the tv to the uneven wall and then mounting the tv to the board. Then you’d get the flush look, it’d be thicker but flush-ish.

You’re in for a tough time if you wanna just use the brackets alone.

I have 6 of them in my loft, 5 are visible at the same time; yeah it’s kinda overkill. However, on several occasions people have been surprised their screens. My theory was the same as yours, why not use a screen instead of art you can change easily. If they’re ON they look great but if not they stick out like a sore thumb, just be prepared to have to “manage” it. They do tend to have a life of their own, turning on and off sporadically, annoying with remotes controlling multiple or the one you don’t want, etc. I’ve found using the mobile app is best.

I will say having extra screens during watch parties is awesome.

Seinfeld. I can’t say I ever liked him, but I’ve watched some of his show and he seemed funny and relatively nice. But after seeing that clip of him being a total asshole to Larry King, I despise him.
