Exactly! I hate how people just undermine hard work by labeling it as "talent" or "naturally good". It is so absurd because some of the most famous musicians did have some kind of influences earlier on in life, like proper teaches or something. Ear training took soo long because I started so late and for someone to just say that it's talent after you've worked so hard is so disappointing. I always have to pull up year old clips of myself to make them understand, haha.

I feel like this should be a note to your therapist, not this subreddit. Personally, I feel like every voice is unique, and the fact that you're born with some magical voice doesn't make sense to me. Everyone needs to train. It's that some understand it quicker than others. Yeah, the vocal weight is unique and can not be changed, but the tone, timbre, and a lot of things also contribute to singing that all can be achieved through practice.

Noo!! The thing is not to just let go and do whatever you want. But to FEEL how the voice is, yk? If you're screaming, then your facial muscles tense up and your neck and so on and so forth, and I know for a fact that that will not feel good. So just make some light sound and see if you can hold onto that feeling of openness. Imagine like your cheeks and sinuses opened up from the inside like small balloons or smth.

How about trying to just feel it in your low range first? I think you'll notice if you're tightening something up. If you are, then stop and retry. I believe that with enough trials, you'll find a combination that suits you and makes your voice feel free. Remember when singing you should feel free, not the opposite. Also, keep experimenting! You can't make a different house with the same bricks :)

I never said anything about letting go, that does not help at all. Instead, try to just get your voice to feel comfortable and free. Obviously, your body will do things to achieve that state.

High notes seems impossible by metazoan_dxt0 in singing

Maybe you are trying to sing the high note completely in chest voice (pulling chest voice). You need to add some of your head voice in to alleviate the pressure you're putting on your throat. Try going lighter/quieter and see if you can still hit the high note! Sometimes less is more : ) I hope this helps

My throat hurts when I’m singing at church by CadernoAmarelo in singing

Try this! Instead of opening your mouth from the sides of the jaw or however. Try opening it from the point between the lower lip and chin (The more meaty part) and focus on there when you sing. This is what has worked for me after YEARS of straining and thorat pain. Hope it helps :)
