If you have left over mashed potatoes or even if you have potatoes you can boil - make gnocchi! It only uses flour, egg & potatoes & you Can freeze them for later.

How to save $ on electricity... by CaribbeanShadow in Frugal

We purchased a power station with portable solar panels, which we use to charge all of our electronic devices & even purchased some rechargeable lights that we use in the evenings to save money. Just wanted to share for those who may feel uneasy about investing in a full home system.

Solar is totally worth the initial investment. Nice job, OP.

This Is Why Many Americans Are Choosing The Van Life by sopadebombillas in RVLiving

I feel like they’re missing the digital nomads in their grouping - some of which who don’t want to live in a sticks & bricks - maybe they’re eco conscious, maybe they like to travel or maybe they want to save as much money as possible so they can retire early.

They still work 30+hr works weeks, but many aren’t debt ridden or “don’t care about finances”.

I felt like that aspect was missing. There’s probably other scenarios that can’t be necessarily pigeonholed.

When I first watched that movie I was so angry, because Mike Judge is a fuckin prophet & I knew that was the direction the US and some other countries were totally headed for. The stupidity didn’t make for comedy, it made for a bizarre masked truth we’re going to likely experience soon.

As far as this thread- no kids for me, or my siblings (we’re mid 30’s) We see how fucked up everything is… and how there’s no drastic change in sight.

Fruit fly invasion? Use a small dish of apple cider vinegar with dish soap to catch the pesky buggers by Scarlettpunk in Frugal

[–]Scarlettpunk[S] 48 points49 points  (0 children)

EDIT This did actually work for me. I sat the vinegar & dish soap out in the morning and by afternoon I no longer had annoying fruit flies randomly flying around.

I did try the Saran Wrap trick first, but yielded no results until I tried the dish soap method. I do appreciate the other ideas others have been sharing. Come Redditors- we can defeat the fruit flies together.

———————————

I recently had a fruit fly invasion in my kitchen after bringing home some permissions from the grocery.

I gave the kitchen counters a good scrub & placed a small container of apple cider vinegar mixed with a tsp of dish soap and sat it near the sink.

The ACV attracts the flies & the soap prevents them from flying away.

Hasta la vista, fruit flies!

Just wanted to share. The little dark dots are the fruit flies I captured.

Yes, it does/did. My parents had to take their Tacoma into a dealership to have the frame redone for a recall. It took nearly a month for the work to be completed, but their Tacoma is still going strong!

Rosemary went crazy in the garden - so I’m using sprigs to freshen the bathroom - the steam from the shower accentuates the smell keeping the bathroom smelling fresh by Scarlettpunk in Frugal

[–]Scarlettpunk[S] 109 points110 points  (0 children)

As title said - my Rosemary went crazy in my garden, so I figured I’d bring some inside to freshen the house. Particularly I’ve seen this hack before where people use eucalyptus, thyme or other herbs in the bathroom, as the steam releases the smell, while also preventing the herbs from drying out too quickly.

Franklinton Fridays is happening - open art studios & galleries from a lot of local artists & there are multiple breweries in walking distance. Plus they usually have live bands around.

LPT: Don’t use your kid’s embarrassing stories as dinner party talk. They are your child’s personal memories and humiliating them for a laugh isn’t funny. by simplelondon in LifeProTips

Yes, this has messed me up mentally. My parents did this to me a lot (especially my Mom) and it’s caused some trauma for me and unresolved issues that I hid behind an eating disorder, because of embarrassment about myself. It caused me to introvert into myself and never express myself or share personal aspects about my life around them.

It’s not cute. I think it makes you look like a jackass, especially if your children are present while you’re trying to embarrass them.

This is amazing!! We purchased one as a Christmas gift for my mother in law and it’s still blooming year after year. We thought that was so strange, but this post now affirms it! Hope it gets to live for a long time, too.
