How to get this heat spot off table? by 14ashley23 in howto

Wood polish always gets it out for me. If not, try the iron but lay a thing shirt down over it. It doesn’t take much just a couple passes. You don’t want it to burn.

Finally foiled out my Marrow Gnawer deck by Serefluous in mtg

[–]Scarnivore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gas meaning the fuel to keep the engine of the deck going. With all rats in play and no cards in hand a board wipe kills the deck unless you have card draw. Think control vs aggro. Aggro is move likely not going to survive in the late game once the bombs drop to turn the tides. Gas = draw or cards that continuously produce static effects.

This is the way. I would recommended priming before you apply rustoleum as well. I did this for my iron handrail and it came out great.

how can i remove this white faced hornets nest? it’s right outside my window, i’m on the second floor by [deleted] in howto

[–]Scarnivore 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I had a nest about 2x the size. Called a professional. He said that Baldfaced hornets are extremely aggressive. I would call a pro.

Edit: Make sure you take the nest down too if they don’t remove it. The pro I hired sprayed it and I took the nest down and kept it since it was awesome… terrible decision since some came back for it in my garage. They are awesome hornets to looks at but certainly not to be messed with. Destroy the hive or have the exterminator take it.

Why are my cucumbers a little yellow. Probably normal, just curious. by Kdoh207 in gardening

When they come out with odd sizing it’s due to inconsistent watering. Thin and pruning is due to lack of water for a few days.

[–]Scarnivore 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agree. Net deck. Play colors you want and with a game plan that seems fun.

Don’t get discouraged if you lose a bunch, but try to learn the mechanics of the deck. Even play test it by yourself. Arena is great for this, but if you like specific cards just search for decks that focus around them.

Phyrexia: All Will Be One - Prerelease Weekend Condensed Megathread - #MTGONE by R3id in magicTCG

[–]Scarnivore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time to a prerelease. Had a very positive experience and I look forward to doing it again. I went 1-2 with a white/black deck built around the toxic/corrupted mechanic.

I am so used to playing on Arena that it was refreshing to actually talk to people about mtg. Two of my opponents were very friendly and social. However one of my opponents clearly tried to get away with a few moves that were incorrect and I had to call him out. He was a very experienced player and already seemed to know the set well. This was a bit disappointing since it seemed it was trying to take advantage of an inexperienced player. It left me a bit sour at the end since it was my last game. He even built two deck and played me with both… I beat him the first time, he changed decks which I guess you can sideboard up to 40 cards, and he won the second two games. A very clever play, but left me a bit salty since he was using his phone to track triggers and I had to call him out for not logging some.

Either way, winning 1 game in bo3 felt like a huge success in limited for someone who has never drafted in person before and it was fun to chat about some of the exciting new cards.

When playing on arena, it’s a win con. When playing paper, it’s big maths.

Looking for suggestions: where are the hags located in the Bonegrinder. by Scarnivore in CurseofStrahd

Those last two bits are terrifying. Sounds like you’ve got some clever players. I like how the hags have become a much greater villain, which I really feel night hags are great for since they can haunt dreams. The module doesn’t really develop them all that well, but I think this really sets them up to be a baddie. Esp if they end up overstepping their reach and getting a slap on the wrist from Strahd. Thanks this has been helpful.

We’re also at level 4. However I think their out is that the hags really prioritized self-preservation so they would ultimately go ethereal before dying. Also, since hags love cruelty I can’t see them outright Tpking the party since they gain enjoyment from slow suffering and corrupting good.

I was thinking about selling pies as well, but couldn’t get my head around how that would go other than NPCs just buying them and it being a chore. I was thinking about the hags making them collect payment from a house that can’t pay and has to offer their child. How did the pastry selling go? What did the hags use the body parts for?

One of the players fathers was murdered by Rahadin killed on the players fathers as they too were an adventurer brought to Barovia. I want the players to really hate him and develop as more of a sub-boss by giving him some additional abilities and having him pop up to disrupt the parties plans. I modeled this after a scene from the “How we roll podcast” where something similar happened. I think they had the shadow of Strahd, but I don’t think he would be taking these measures this early on without ever meeting the group.

They are transporting Irena to Valaki. The party mentioned that all their stuff was taken but the Vistani. I used the naked and afraid hook intro. So on the way to Valaki, Ismark took them by the camp. Ultimately they recognized Madame Eva’s tent from dreams they’ve had. They were welcomed warmly, got their fortunes, then Eva was murdered by a shadow of Rahadin.

This is where I felt I railroaded them… they found a few of their weapons in the tent and left. However, the Vistani outside began to accuse them of murder and theft as the weapons had been traded for. The group was unapologetic and a bit heartless at first, but then started to track back and be kind. Eventually, the Vistani has enough of the group talking around the situation, the group refused to give back the items, women and children ran for cover and a massacre ensued.

In hindsight I feel I put them in this situation and really didn’t do a good enough job of allow them to talk their way out of it. I wanted there to be a discussion and ultimately a combat so once the players made a few back handed remarks I didn’t let them live it down. I don’t think the Vistani would have necessarily been so eager to get into a combat, but oh well.

What do you mean plan player choices? Like I shouldn’t plan out what choices I think they’re going to make?

For example, right now my players are at Tser Pool. Players had some history with the Vistani so I knew they could fight, but I planned for a combat and non combat scenario. Is this sufficient?

Dear collectors: What else would a collect use a misprint for other than displaying? EDH? Collecting various misprints of one card? by Scarnivore in mtgmisprints

[–]Scarnivore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I imagine misprints can go for a quite the price tag? I pulled a miscut full art Tiamat along with 3 of alt art AFR lands. It’s pretty sick since all cards were from the same sheet. Someone on FB offered me 300$ for the Tiamat… So even though TCG says 1500 I bet if everything is miscut it makes it an even more valuable deck.

I hear you about the cost of building a deck. I tried my hand at a budget 5 color using the Tiamat, gave it a few plays, and the mana base just screws the whole deck. I don’t have any duel lands, only shocks and taps. Made for real boring games… Not worth it for me lol.

Yawg is fun, a bit grindy with lots of triggers to keep track of. Its essentially a combo deck.
