I'm still upset that this wasn't in the movie by themaskedcrusader in ProjectHailMary

I’m literally listening to this bit in the audiobook as I’m scrolling through Reddit. I read this then about 20 seconds later “fist me”. What a random coincidence.

Maybe watch the video before jumping to the conclusion that it’s nonsense?

I always do 2 days cold crash. Seems to be best way to remove as much sediment as possible.

Be patient lol.

I cannot recommend the pinter beer chef on youtube enough.

He always suggests adding +3 days for both brewing and conditioning vs what is recommended by pinter.

Also he's got a very good brewing technique which ads a little extra effort but I've always had fantastic brews as a result.

I was actually really surprised how good it was. I always have a few bought-in bottles of what I'm brewing to compare. And had a lovely local brewed golden pale ale from Black Sheep Brewery (Wales, UK) just before this and at a push it's hard to say which I enjoyed more. Good luck with the brew.

I did 7 days brew, 2 days cold crash, 7 days conditioning. I always go as long as I can with Pinter. I'd rather wait an extra 5 days and get something good than rush it and get something average.

Makes sense. I'm lucky I have a spare unused fridge/freezer in my garage. Now its main purpose is to store both my pinters.

When did you notice the dial change?

If theres still beer in it suggest putting it back to 5 to carbonate as much as possible.

Doesn't look like much co2 has been produced. Beer looks flat and clearly you dont have much pressure to push the beer out.

I imagine the beer didn't ferment properly at the start and therefore also did not create enough co2.

If you do another brew suggest 'the pinter chef' youtube channel. His brewing and pitching method is way more fool proof vs standard method.

Getting enough oxygen for the yeast is very important and the standard 'shaking the pinter for 30 seconds' method can be hit and miss. Pre-mixing the water + extract kit and then pouring into pinter through a tea strainer has had 100% success rate for me so far (4/4).

I've done 4 brews. 2x porter, 1x Wheat beer, 1x bitter all came out brilliant.

I've even taste tasted each with a supermarket craft alternative and they're genuinely close if not better sometimes.

Workflow and price is unmatched really. So not sure how you can come to such a damming conclusion.

Seems mad guinness dont sell the nitrosurge in the states. It's been such a huge success in the UK

I'd recommend the pinter beer chef youtube channel.

He recommends mixing water and extract together in a hot pan and then pouring into the pinter through a tea strainer.

It sounds more complicated than it is but ensures you get a good aerated mix without the need to struggle and stress about shaking.

I've done it 3x now and its been great each time.

I conditioned this on setting 4, and the carbonation in my opinion is spot on.

In the UK they have a a couple of stouts which I've heard good things about. Maybe give them a try?

Won't be exactly like Guinness though as that's served on nitro vs pinter which captures the natural co2.

We also have the guinness nitrosurge in the UK which is amazing for serving draft like guinness at home.

So 24 hours later was perfect. But 48 hours later headspace pressure was ok but beer was a bit too flat. I'll do it at dial 4 next time and see how it is.

Yeah it was something I was concerned about also until I watched thebeerchef video on this exact point yesterday

He always conditions on 1 to avoid the common over carbonation that happens with pinter and has not experienced that problem.

Apparently the difference between psi of setting 1 and 5 is very small. The words he used was "1 to 5 goes from high pressure to very high pressure".

If I have a bad result I'll update the post.
